1. Noida police have arrested six men for allegedly running a fake office in the name of the International Police & Crime Investigation Bureau to mislead the public, impersonate government officials, and extort money using forged documents, fake IDs, and police-style insignia.
2. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has told the Supreme Court that it is under no legal obligation to prepare or publish a separate list of nearly 6.5 million names not included in Bihar’s draft electoral rolls, or to disclose reasons for their non-inclusion.
3. AIIMS-Delhi researchers have called for a relook at the ban on electronic nicotine delivery systems in India, contending that e-cigarettes with nicotine, when compared with no treatment or usual care, have been evidenced to be of benefit.
In 2019, India banned the sale, storage and manufacture of such devices by bringing in the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA).
4. A Kerala Students’ Union (KSU) leader claimed that senior BJP leader and Union Minister Suresh Gopi was “inaccessible” for the people of his constituency and district for some time, and filed a “missing” complaint with the police on Sunday.

As part of a tainted land deal in Gurugram, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s husband and businessman Robert Vadra received 58 crore rupees as proceeds of crime, the Enforcement Directorate told a Special Court in a money laundering case. While 53 crore rupees were routed through Skylight Hospitality, another 5 crore rupees were routed through Blue Breeze Trading, said the ED in its chargesheet against Vadra and others.

Amidst ongoing debates over alleged voter manipulation and roll revisions, the Bihar Congress has accused Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha of being registered as a voter in two separate locations within the state. This accusation adds to the growing pressure on the Election Commission after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi criticised the poll body for allegedly collaborating with the BJP in “vote theft.”
10. Govt issues guidelines for ‘Maharashtra Made Liquor’ : License holders seeking to manufacture MML must fulfill certain conditions. Their registered office must be in Maharashtra, at least 25% of the shareholding should be held by state residents, and they shouldn’t produce Maharashtra-branded IMFL in other states.

1. The DRDO’s Astra MK3 missile, codenamed “Gandiva,” will be upgraded with multiple inflight guidance systems for enhanced targeting capabilities.
2. DRDO Upgrading SAAW with Satellite Navigation for Mid Course Guidance*: The Defence Research and Development Organisation is enhancing the Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon with satellite navigation for better mid-course guidance.
3. Indian Navy will commission Udaygiri and Himgiri at Visakhapatnam on August 26. These are Project 17A stealth frigates. This is the first time two major warships are commissioned simultaneously. These ships can handle conventional and non-conventional threats. Project 17A is a follow-on to the Shivalik class. Udaygiri is the 100th ship designed by the Navy’s Warship Design Bureau.
4. Indian Army Chief of Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, inaugurated the Indian Army Research Cell (IARC) ‘Agnishodh’ at IIT-Madras, setting a new benchmark in the synergy between India’s military forces and cutting-edge technological innovation.
5. The Indian Coast Guard is in the process of inducting Remotely Piloted Aircraft and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to enhance its surveillance, reconnaissance and intelligence gathering capabilities, Director General Paramesh Sivamani has said.
