1. In Odisha, incessant rain triggered by low pressure in the Bay of Bengal has resulted in flash floods in the southern districts of Malkangiri and Koraput. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted extremely heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours in five coastal and adjoining districts, including Ganjam, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh and Boudh.

2. India will organize the first Global Cooperative Conference from 25th to 30th November in New Delhi. Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperation, Dr Ashish Kumar Bhutani said.

3. The Janata Dal (United) will contest the Jharkhand assembly elections with the BJP. Talking to reporters in Ranchi, the Executive President of JD(U), Sanjay Jha, said the seat-sharing formula between the two parties will be decided soon.

4. The Ministry of Coal conducted the Mid-Year Review Meeting of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of Coal Public Sector Undertakings in New Delhi. The review meeting focused on assessing the progress of ongoing CSR initiatives, evaluating their impact on the communities, and aligning them with the guidelines of the government.

5. Home Minister Amit Shah has been unanimously re-elected as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language.

6. PM Modi has urged more people to nominate inspiring personalities for the Padma Awards. The last day to nominate is the 15th of this month.

6. The Centre has asked the States and the Union territories for the screening and testing of all suspect cases of Mpox previously known as Monkey pox in the country. Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra issued an advisory to the States in view of the WHO’s declaration of Public Health Emergency of International Concern related to Mpox.

7. All India Institute of Medical Sciences will launch a dedicated Tobacco Cessation Clinic (TCC) in New Delhi today. AIIMS Delhi Director Professor M Srinivas said.

8. PM Modi will inaugurate SEMICON India 2024 at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, on 11th September. He will also address the gathering on the occasion. The SEMICON India 2024 is being organised from 11th to 13th September with the theme “Shaping the Semiconductor Future”.

9. Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav today released an amount of 1,574 crore rupees into the accounts of 1 crore 29 lakh women under the Ladli Behna scheme. He also released more than 332 crore rupees to 55 lakh social security pension beneficiaries in a program organized in Bina, Sagar district.

10. The 16th Finance Commission commenced its consultations in Telangana with representatives of local bodies, commerce and industry leaders, and representatives of political parties.

11. PM Modi will transfer the first instalment of the PM Awaas Yojana to the accounts of the beneficiaries during his visit to the state on September 15.

12. India Meteorological Department has forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Odisha.

13. Telangana, all Congress Legislators, MPs, Corporation Chairpersons and Government advisors will contribute their two months’ salary to flood relief activities. State Industries Minister, D Sridhar Babu informed.

14. Manipur Government has declared two-day holiday on Monday and Tuesday for all schools and colleges in the state in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the State.

15. Gujarat government approves Rs 56.84 for construction of new river bridges : Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel Monday gave in-principle approval for their repair, as well as for the construction of two new bridges in the town. The bridges—Sardar bridge near Panjrapole and another bridge near the government hospital—are believed to be more than a century old.

16. Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, president of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, has been admitted to a private hospital in Lucknow in critical condition.

17. Dr. Vinay Goyal has officially assumed the role of State Mission Director for the National Health Mission (NHM). He succeeds K. Jeevan Babu, who has moved to the Kerala Water Authority as Managing Director.

1. Supreme Court stays Allahabad High Court’s order asking Uttar Pradesh government to prepare fresh list of 69 thousand assistant teachers selected in 2019.

2. The Delhi government has imposed a complete ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers to control pollution in the national capital. This ban will remain in effect until the 1st of January next year. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said the decision was made in response to the increasing air pollution in the city during the winter season.

3. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two individuals, including an engineer from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and a middleman, in a bribery case. The team apprehended both red-handed while exchanging a bribe amount of over 91 thousand rupees.

4. Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena has ordered the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) to investigate alleged corruption in the Public Works Department of the Delhi Government. The ACB has been directed to probe the misuse of public funds amounting to nearly 80 crore rupees by department officials.

5. In Telangana, The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Authority (HYDRAA) on Sunday demolished illegal structures at different places. It demolished apartments in the Madhapur area as they were illegally built in the Full Tank Level (FTL) of Sunnam Cheruvu Lake.

6. The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a PIL seeking a direction to the Centre to stop the export of arms and military equipment to Israel which is fighting a war in Gaza, saying it cannot enter into the foreign policy domain and “national self-interest has to be evaluated by the government”.

7. A major train accident was averted by an alert loco pilot as the Bhiwani-Prayagraj Kalindi Express was brought to a screeching halt after hitting an LPG cylinder placed on the tracks in Kanpur, the police said on Monday, adding a bottle of petrol and matchboxes were also found at the site hinting at a sabotage bid.

8. A third-year BTech Computer Science Engineering student of the Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) was found dead inside his hostel room on Monday (September 9, 2024) morning.

1. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council in its 54th meeting in New Delhi decided to slash the GST on cancer drugs by reducing the rate from 12 percent to 5 percent. The meeting was chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

2. The Reserve Bank of India has rejected Canara Bank’s proposal to set up a credit card subsidiary, which the government-owned lender thought would give fillip to its fledgling card business.

1. Bollywood actor, producer, and politician Kangana Ranaut has sold her bungalow on Nargis Dutt Road in plush Pali Hill locality of Mumbai’s western suburb Bandra west to a Hyderabad-based company for Rs 32 crore.

2. The Second International Buddhist Media Conclave will be organised on the 11th of this month in New Delhi. The theme of this media conclave is Mindful Communication for Conflict Avoidance and Sustainable Development. The Conclave will focus on how Buddhist teachings can be assimilated into modern media practices to address global crises and enhance trust in media institutions.

1. Defence Ministry strikes 26 thousand crore rupees contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for 240 aero engines for Sukhoi-30MKI aircraft.

2. The Vice Chiefs of all three armed forces flew in the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas for the first time during a multilateral exercise underway at Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The Jodhpur Air Force Station is hosting the second phase of the multilateral exercise “Tarang Shakti” till the 15th of this month. Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal A.P. Singh, Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, and Vice Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General N.S. Raja Subramani boarded the Tejas fighter jets for almost 45 minutes.

3. The Indian Army and Indian Air Force signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya to enhance the skills and capability building of personnel in logistics operations.

4. In Kerala, two indigenously designed and constructed Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Watercrafts built for the Indian Navy were launched at the Cochin Shipyard. They will be christened INS Malpe and INS Mulki once commissioned into the Indian Navy.

5. The joint military exercise of the Indian and American armies began at Mahajan Field Firing Range in Bikaner, Rajasthan. About 1200 soldiers of the South Western Command of the Indian Army and the US military are participating in this military exercise. The soldiers of both countries will practice many war strategies for 15 days.

6. Indian Air Force to celebrate 92nd Raising Day in Chennai : This year’s Air Force Day parade and air display will take place in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on 8 October. This year marks the 92nd Raising Day of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and will be the third occasion the celebrations are held outside Delhi. Previous celebrations were held in Chandigarh and Prayagraj in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

7. Lance Naik Charan Singh (retd), a World War II veteran who served the Army for 17 years and received the prestigious Burma Star Award has turned 100.

The Army celebrated his centennial birthday on Saturday at his home in Himachal Pradesh, marking a century of extraordinary life and service. Born on 7 September 1924, Singh’s journey with the Army began on August 26, 1942, at Firozepur Cantonment, when he got enrolled in the Indian Army.
