New Delhi Declaration adopted at G20, huge win as India clinches consensus.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Saturday that the G20 has officially adopted the New Delhi Leaders Summit Declaration, highlighting that member states have successfully reached a consensus. India’s G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant said that the New Delhi Declaration – running into 38 paragraphs, was adopted with “100% consensus on all developmental and geo-political issues”.

1. India on 9th September 2023 launched the Global Biofuels Alliance at a G20 summit in New Delhi.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was identified as the leader representing ‘Bharat’ at the G20 Summit in New Delhi on Saturday as he made his opening remarks at the beginning of the two-day meeting.

3. A replica of the Konark Wheel from Odisha’s Sun Temple served as the backdrop for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s welcome handshake with G-20 leaders as they arrived at the summit venue, Bharat Mandapam.

4. President Smt Droupadi Murmu on Saturday hosted a grand dinner for G20 guests at Bharat Mandapam — the venue for the Summit, with the menu offering dishes made from millets and Kashmiri Kahwa.

5. PM Modi proposed to launch the G20 Satellite Mission for Environment and Climate Observation and urged leaders to start working on a Green Credit Initiative.

6. The Election Commission (EC) has declared bypoll results of seven assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Kerala, Tripura, and Uttarakhand. The BJP won three seats in Tripura and Uttarakhand, while SP, Congress, TMC and JMM won one seat each. The six state went to poll on 5th Sept.

11. Bengal education policy rejects Centre’s school education structure proposed in NEP, 2023
While the Centre proposes that ‘the medium of expression until at least grade five – but preferably till grade eight or beyond – shall be the student’s mother tongue, or the local or regional language’, the state policy only wishes to introduce the three-language formula only at the upper primary level.

12. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on September 12 a batch of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of colonial-era provision of sedition under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

1. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a series of raids and searches in Telangana in connection with a case involving the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist). The NIA registered the case against 12 accused after the explosive materials, drones, and a lathe machine were seized from three accused in June in Cherla mandal of Kothagudem in Telangana.

2. Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) helped dispose of 5,58,887 pending and pre-litigation cases during the National Lok Adalat held on Saturday.

3. Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by the CID from Nandyal at 6 am on Saturday and shifted to Vijayawada, in connection with the Rs 3,300-crore AP Skill Development Corporation scam case.

1. Reserve Bank of India has set up RBI Digital Innovation Pavilion at hall number three at Pragati Maidan complex to showcase its digital initiatives to the delegates of G20 countries.

2. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to discontinue the Incremental Cash Reserve Ratio (I-CRR), which was put in place to absorb surplus liquidity following the withdrawal of 2,000 rupees currency notes, in a phased manner.

3. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has called upon fintech entities to establish Self-Regulatory Organizations (SROs). He emphasizes the need for SROs in the fintech sector to address issues related to market integrity, data privacy & cybersecurity.

4. SBI has introduced the ‘Nation First Transit Card, providing a convenient means for digital fare payments across diverse transportation modes through a single card.

5. India’s first UPI-ATM, a White Label ATM (WLA) by Hitachi Payment Services in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), was introduced to enable seamless cash withdrawals without the need for physical ATM cards.

This innovation allows customers of certain banks to enjoy QR-based cashless withdrawals. The UPI-ATM, also known as Interoperable Cardless Cash Withdrawal (ICCW).
