2. PM Modi inaugurated the ninth edition of the India Mobile Congress 2025, Asia’s largest telecom, media, and technology event at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi.

Around 8.5 lakh officials have been deployed to ensure the smooth functioning during the Bihar assembly elections. The poll body said, these personnel include nearly 4.53 lakh polling personnel, 2.5 lakh police officials, over 28 thousand counting personnel, 18 thousand micro observers.

5. The NAKSHA Programme, launched under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP), aims to modernise urban land governance by using geospatial mapping, GNSS, and Web-GIS technologies to create transparent, accurate, and accessible urban land records.

6. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry said that over one thousand 500 spots were cleaned under the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, which concluded on the 2nd of this month.

7. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated India’s first electric truck battery swapping and charging station in Sonipat, marking a major step toward clean logistics.

PM Modi launched the Mumbai One mobile app, India’s first integrated common mobility platform, allowing commuters in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region to book a single QR-based digital ticket for travel across Metro, Monorail, buses, and local trains. The app integrates 11 public transport operators, supports cashless and contactless transactions, features a multimodal journey planner, and is hosted on a MeitY-compliant Google Cloud Platform.

9. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has emphasized for self-reliant agriculture, and industry collaboration to make India the food basket of the world. He said this while addressing the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry 120th Annual Session in New Delhi.

10. The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will meet for its 9-day autumn session from October 23 to 31 at Srinagar.

11. The Government of India has expanded the e-NAM platform by adding 9 new commodities, raising the total tradable agricultural commodities to 247. This move aims to provide farmers and traders with a more transparent, competitive digital marketplace that connects markets nationwide.

12. Tamil Nadu government allocated ₹1 crore for conserving four lesser-known endangered species. The move aims to protect the lion-tailed macaque, Madras hedgehog, striped hyena, and hump-headed mahseer.

13. The Odisha government will set up a digital library named Gyana Yagnya Mandap at the site of the old Raghunandan Library in Puri to preserve rare records of the Jagannath Temple, including the Madala Panji, ritual documents, and palm-leaf manuscripts.

14. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has urged External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to secure the expeditious release of all the apprehended fishermen and their boats from the Sri Lanka’s authorities.

15. Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K. Sangma arrived in Imphal on his two days visit to Manipur. Mr. Sangma said that political parties, all stakeholders and representatives of all communities living in Manipur need to work together to bring peace and normalcy in the State.

16. Kalam Labs, a stratospheric aerial robotics start-up based in Lucknow, is preparing for a ground breaking test flight aimed at reaching an altitude of 30,000 metres above mean sea level. The venture, founded by Ahmad Faraaz along with former BITS Pilani classmates Sashakt Tripathi and Harshit Awasthi, is developing advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology for military applications.

17. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall over Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura today. Heavy rainfall is also predicted over Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Odisha, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

1. The Supreme Court Bar Association Thursday terminated the temporary membership of Advocate Rakesh Kishore, who lobbed a shoe at Chief Justice of India B R Gavai on October 6 during court proceedings, terming his action as “grave misconduct”.

2. The Federation of Associations of Telangana Higher Institutions (FATHI), a body of engineering colleges and other professional institutions in Hyderabad and other Telangana districts, has decided to postpone its strike. The decision to postpone the strike from October 13 to October 23 .

3. Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in research, training, technology development, and capacity building related to narcotics control and cyber-enabled drug crimes.

The Telangana State Election Commission (TEC) has suspended the Gram Panchayat and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) elections after the state high court passed an interim stay order enhancing reservations to Backward Classes (BC) to 42 per cent yesterday. The local body polls were slated to begin from the 23rd.

There was a dilemma over the issuance of the notification following the cases filed against the 42 per cent reservation to Backwards Class communities in local bodies. The petitioners alleged that the government’s decision was against the Constitutional principles as well as the Supreme Court’s judgment capping the overall reservations at 50 per cent.

5. The Enforcement Directorate Wednesday conducted searches across Mumbai as part of its money laundering investigation linked to an alleged drug trafficking network.
