1. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said OPEC has a sovereign right to decide on the oil production capacities.

2. The government will begin its annual budget-making exercise for financial year 2023-24 on Monday. The meeting would start with consultations with various ministries and departments on the revised estimates (RE) of expenditure for ongoing financial year and the fund requirement for 2023-24.

3. French Ambassador Emmanuel Lenain said India could receive a chunk of the €300 billion (₹24.21 lakh crore) fund announced by the European Union under its Global Gateway scheme.

4. Minister of Co-operation Amit Shah said that Amul will be merged with five other cooperative societies to form a multi-state cooperative society (MSCS).

5. Jaypee Group’s two firms Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (JPVL) announced their board of directors will be meeting tomorrow to be apprised about the company’s divestment plans. JPVL noted that the meeting was “regarding proposals of divestment of Nigrie Cement Grinding Unit” and to “review the progress made in the reduction of company’s debt”

6.The world’s richest Hindu temple, the Lord Venkateswara shrine atop Tirumala, received a record income of Rs 782.69 crore in cash offerings (kanukas) from devotees for the Srivari Hundi in the six months since April this year.

2. Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth will reportedly be directing the South star in his 173rd film. This is the first time Aishwaryaa will be directing her father. Rajinikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya directed the actor in the 2014 animated film ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, which also featured actress Deepika Padukone. Rajinikanth is next set to feature in ‘Jailer’.
