RBI governor Das pitches linking fast payments of India, Japan
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Shaktikanta Das on Thursday suggested linking fast payment platforms of India and Japan for easy cross-border transfers. India’s UPI (unified payments interface) has spurred development of new payment-related products and services, Das said, adding that linking the UPI with fast payment systems of other countries is being undertaken.
1. Today is DHANTERAS or Dhantrayodashi first day of the grand Diwali festivities. It is observed on the trayodashi tith of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight of moon) during the auspicious month of Kartik as per the Hindu calendarcalendar.
The word Dhanteras is obtained by joining two words, ‘Dhan’ meaning ‘wealth’ and ‘Teras’ implies 13th. Hence on the 13th day of the Kartik month, Hindus worship Lord Kuber and Goddess Lakshmi with full devotion. Besides in some regions of India, Dhanteras is celebrated as ‘Dhanwantari Jayanti’ that is the birth anniversary of ‘Dhanwantari’, who is the God of Ayurveda.

5. The Bihar assembly on Thursday passed the Reservation Amendment Bill unanimously through a voice vote. The Bill will raise the quota for SCs, STs, Other Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes to a total of 65 per cent from the existing 50 per cent.
6. Re-election in Mizoram : The repolling will be held at 13-Muallungthu polling station in 20-Aizawal South III Assembly constituency on 10 November.
7. The 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Passes Municipal Bill 2023- Excludes Taxes and Land Provisions, Retains 33% Reservation for Women. Bill passed the Nagaland Municipal Bill 2023 by a voice vote at its third Emergent session.
8. In Telangana, the voter information slips will be distributed after the 10th of November as the state is going to polls on the 30th of November.
9. In Madhya Pradesh, even though the due date for voting is 17th November, the process of voting has already started. About 5 lakh people would have already cast their vote before voting in the state.
Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan informed that the Election Commission has provided the facility to voters above 80 years of age and those with more than 40 percent Divyanga to vote from home in the assembly elections

8. Supreme Court directed the State of Tamil Nadu to grant permission for Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to conduct route marches either on the 19th or 26th of November. The Court also directed the State to communicate its decision by November 15.

1. China is expected to incur a substantial loss of around Rs 1 lakh crore in Diwali-related business. On this Diwali, the effect of ‘Vocal for Local’ is visible in all markets. National President of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) B. C. Bharatiya said.

1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued direction for release of the third instalment of arrears under the ‘One Rank On Pension’ scheme to the defence pensioners before Diwali. Last December, the government approved revision of pension of armed forces personnel under ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme with retrospective effect from July 1, 2019.
2. The Indian Army is planning to acquire more than 500 helicopter-launched Nag (HELINA) anti-tank missiles for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)-manufactured Rudra and LCH Prachand attack helicopters.
3. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar on November 08 confirmed that India will soon buy the efficient 31 MQ-9B Predator Drones for the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force in order to advance India’s surveillance capability. “The Predator MQ-9B drone is used for surveillance…This is a very useful asset…The govt has given its approval to buy it now. There is a plan to buy 31 Predator Drones,” said the Naval Chief.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) signed a Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreement with CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) for manufacturing of the BMI Engine Bay Door for the series production of LCA — TEJAS MK-1A. The TEJAS MK-1A is an indigenous 4.5 generation, all-weather, multi-role fighter aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
