President Shri Ramnath Kovind extends greetings to citizens on eve of Chhath Puja.

2. Over 109 crore 12 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive. As part of the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, the Centre has been supporting the States and Union Territories by providing them COVID vaccines free of cost.

3. President Ram Nath Kovind presents the Padma Awards in the Rashtrapati Bhawan on 08 Nov. 119 Padma Awards presented by President this year. The list comprises 7 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri Awards. 29 of the awardees are women, 16 Posthumous awardees and 1 transgender awardee.

4. The Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian honours of India announced annually on the eve of Republic Day. The Awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of higher order) and Padma Shri (distinguished service). The award seeks to recognise achievements in all fields of activities or disciplines where an element of public service is involved.

5.Biennial elections to the legislative councils in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka from 42 local authorities’ constituencies will be held on December 10, the Election Commission announced.

6. Meteorological Department (IMD) said that Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on November 10 and 11, issuing an alert for both the states.

7. Farmer unions protesting against the Centre’s new farm laws, have decided to march to Parliament on November 29 — shortly after their protest at the Delhi border completes one year. The decision was taken today by the nine-member committee of the United Kisan Morcha — an umbrella body of farmers’ unions.

8. DELHI govt will launch a month-long campaign to prevent open burning of waste and biomass from November 11 as part of efforts to further reduce pollution from local sources.

9. KARNATAKA: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on 9 Nov announced Rs 10 crore for the construction of ‘Kannada Bhavan’ in neighboring Goa.

11. Paying an ode to the late legendary star Puneeth Rajkumar, Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani, has decided to name the stage of ‘Udyami Aagu, Udyoga Needu’ (Be an Entrepreneur, Become an Employer) workshop in Kalaburagi on November 11, after the late actor.

12. TAMIL NADU Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday visited rain-affected and water-logged areas in Chennai and distributed food to needy people in various parts of the city.

13. UTTAR PRADESH Former CM Akhilesh Yadav has launched a perfume with the Samajwadi Party’s election symbol on it. Called “Samajwadi Sugandh” or “Attar”, a Samajwadi legislator who also runs a perfume business crafted it in Kannauj district, known for its fragrance industry.

14. Mohammad Sharif, the man who performed last rites of more than 25,000 unclaimed bodies, was conferred with the Padma Shri, for the 2020. 15. PUNJAB Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on 09 Nov announced that the state cabinet had accepted Advocate General A P S Deol’s resignation. Advocate-General APS Deol had tendered his resignation to CM Charanjit Singh Channi on November 1.

16. WEST BENGAL : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday announced a compensation package of Rs 10,000 crore for those who would get displaced or affected due to the Deocha-Pachami coal mine project in Birbhum district.

17. Prabhakar Sail, an independent witness, appeared before the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Delhi vigilance team for the second day on Tuesday in connection with its probe into the pay-off allegations in the cruise drugs case in which Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan is an accused.

18. Sail, who claims to be the bodyguard of NCB witness KP Gosavi, last month alleged in an affidavit that he had heard Gosavi discussing a Rs 25 crore pay-off deal after Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB. Sail claimed that Gosavi had said Rs 8 crore of the deal money was to be given to NCB’s Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede.

Domestic air passenger traffic grew by a whopping 67%, year-on-year, at around 87 to 88 lakh in October, on the back of festive season demand amid a continuous fall in the number of COVID-19 infection cases, says a report. According to credit rating agency ICRA, domestic passenger volume in October last year was at 52.7 lakh .

21.Actress Poonam Pandey’s husband Sam Bombay was arrested by the Mumbai police after she complained of an alleged assault. According to the police, Pandey was admitted to the hospital after lodging the complaint as she suffered injuries on her head, eyes and face.

22. Western Naval Command (WNC) chief Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar will take over as the next Navy chief from Admiral Karambir Singh on November 30, the government announced on 09 Nov.

23. The Indian Navy took delivery of the fourth `Scorpene’ class submarine under Project-75 from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) on 09 Nov.

24. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General MM Naravane on Tuesday said capability development of the armed forces remains a national imperative given the country’s active and disputed borders with two neighbours and observed that disruptive technologies are fast transforming the character of the modern world. Addressing the event of the signing of MoUs between Gandhinagar-based Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG-N) virtually.

25. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Directorate of Defence Research and Development (DDR&D), Ministry of Defence, Israel have entered into a Bilateral Innovation Agreement (BIA) to promote innovation and accelerated research and development in start-ups and MSMEs for the development of dual use technologies. The agreement was signed in New Delhi on 09 Nov.

26. Industries of both countries will work together to bring out next-generation technologies and products in the areas such as Drones, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum technology, Photonics, Energy Storage and Natural Language Processing.
