1. Voting in the 224 assembly seats of Karnataka is underway with as many as 2,615 candidates in the fray. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, actor Prakash Raj, and Infosys founder Narayana Murthy were among the early voters. Polling will continue till 6 PM. The fate of 2615 candidates for 224 assembly constituencies are at the stake. Over five crore thirty lakh 85 thousand voters are eligible to cast their vote in the state. The state is seeing a triangular contest between the ruling BJP, Congress and the JDS. The BJP looks to script history to retain its southern citadel while a combative Congress eyes a comeback in the state.

2. PM Modi has extended good wishes to all the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Jan Suraksha Schemes on completion of 8 years of the Schemes.

Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana completed eight years today. These schemes are playing an instrumental role in providing social security net and affordable insurance to the people.

1. Madhya Pradesh government has announced an interest waiver of Rs 2,123 crore for farmers on Tuesday. The waiver covers over 11.19 lakh farmers of the state.

2. The Kerala Story’s crew member has received a death threat message from an unknown number. Film’s director Sudipto Sen informed the cops that one of its crew members received a message from an unknown number. The police stated, “The message threatened the said person not to step out alone from home and that they didn’t do a good thing by showing the story”.

3. AIMIM leader Waris Pathan on Tuesday criticised ‘The Kerala Story’ and called it a “propaganda film”. “Such a film that spreads hatred should be banned and its producer and director should be picked up and put in jail,” Pathan said.

DEFENCE

1. President Droupadi Murmu conferred 37 Gallantry awards, in which 08 Kirti Chakras, including 05 posthumous, and 29 Shaurya Chakras, including five posthumous, upon the personnel of the Armed Forces.

2. Indian Army will introduce standard uniform for brigadier-rank officers and above from August 1. The changes in the standard uniform will include the headgear, belts, shoulder rank patches, gorget patches. And they will no longer sport lanyards.
