1. Six candidates from Tamil Nadu have been declared elected unopposed for the six vacancies in Rajya Sabha. The press release from the Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly stated that Constantine Ravindran and Tiruchi Siva of the DMK, Christopher Manickam of the INC, L.K.Sudhish of the DMDK, M.Thambidurai of the AIADMK and Dr.Anbumani Ramadoss of the Pattali Makkal Katchi have been elected.

2. In Telangana, Congress candidates Abhishek Singhvi and Vem Narender Reddy were elected unopposed.

In Maharashtra, NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar and Union minister Ramdas Athawale were among 26 candidates who were elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha.

3. Jewar Airport to Become Asia’s Largest Aviation Hub : Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu handed over the aerodrome licence issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to the Noida International Airport at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh.

4. Maharashtra celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with rallies, marathons, vaccination drives, and a Guinness World Record Lezim dance in Dombivli. Events across districts highlighted women’s empowerment under the theme “Give to Gain.”

5. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched the ‘Say No To Proxy Sarpanch’ campaign on International Women’s Day to highlight the ‘Sarpanch Pati’ practice. The initiative aims to empower elected women sarpanches and prevent male relatives from exercising authority in local governance.

6. Mizoram state legislative assembly unanimously adopted an official resolution moved by state Education Minister Vanlalthlana seeking inclusion of Mizo language in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India.

7. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare conducted a Post Budget Webinar Series on the theme Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas – Fulfilling Aspirations of People.

8. Amid an unfolding energy crisis in the wake of the West Asian conflict, the government on Monday changed the domestic LPG cylinder refilling rule raising the refill period from 21 to 25 days.

9. Ministry of Rural Development is organising a logo design competition on the MyGov portal for the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act 2025.

10. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar convened a high-level meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan in Parliament on Monday. The discussions come against the backdrop of escalating tensions in West Asia, where India faces mounting security and economic challenges.

1. The Election Commission of India has made it clear that the objective of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is to ensure that no eligible voter be left out, while no ineligible person is included in the voter list.

2. Two Maoists were arrested in a joint operation by the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and local police in Bengabad police station area of Giridih district, Jharkhand.

3. Telangana state government introduces stricter rules, QR codes in ad policy. To strengthen monitoring and transparency, every permitted advertisement must display a QR code linked to permit details such as validity, dimensions and location.

4. The Government of India has ordered a temporary suspension of TRP ratings for TV news channels. The decision comes following concerns about sensational coverage of the ongoing West Asia conflict involving Israel and Iran. This directive was issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) on March 7 2026. Which is also asking the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) to withhold the reporting of Television Rating Points (TRPs) for four weeks or until further instructions.

5. The all of a sudden non-availability of commercial gas cylinders has made Bangalore Hotels Association decide to shut down their business from Tuesday, while stating those dependent on hotels will face difficulties in their daily meals.

1. Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan witnessed Sargam 2026, a performance by the Indian Naval Symphonic Orchestra at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today. Sargam is a celebration of Indian Navy’s rich traditions through a blend of military, classical, and contemporary music.

2. Indian Armed Forces contingent arrived at Seychelles to participate in the Eleventh edition of Joint Military Exercise “LAMITIYE-2026” with Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF). The Joint Exercise will be conducted at Seychelles Defence Academy from 09-20 March 2026. ‘LAMITIYE’ meaning ‘Friendship’ in the Creole language is a biennial training event and has been conducted in Seychelles since 2001.

3. India became the world’s second largest arms importer during 2021–25, accounting for 8.2% of global arms imports, according to SIPRI. The report highlights India’s shift from Russian weapons to Western suppliers like France, Israel, and the United States.

4. Operation Sankalp is the Indian Navy’s major maritime security mission has once again come into focus amid rising tensions in West Asia. The Indian Navy warships deployed under Operation Sankalp have been placed on standby to conduct Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations if required.

Operation Sankalp is a maritime security initiative launched by the Indian Navy to protect Indian commercial vessels and ensure stability in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

The operation was officially launched on 19 June 2019.
