1. The price of tomatoes has crashed to as low as ₹2-₹5 per kg in Kolar district, which is a major vegetable growing belt in Karnataka. This has led to many farmers leaving the tomatoes in the field, unharvested during the onset of summer.

2. Dixon Technologies, a leading electronics manufacturing services firm, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to establish a ₹1,000-crore facility at the Indospace Industrial Park in Oragadam, Kancheepuram district, near Chennai.

4. The unemployment rate in rural area has marginally declined from 4.3 per cent to 4.2 per cent. The latest Annual Report of the Periodic Labour Force Survey, from January to December 2024, shows that the Labour force participation rate in urban areas has increased from 50.3 per cent to over 51 per cent.

5. The Government of India has announced the amalgamation of several Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), effective from 1 May 2025. This move aims to enhance the efficiency of RRBs and reduce competition among public sector banks.

6. On April 9, 2025, the Reserve Bank of India approved a significant update to the UPI framework by allowing the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to raise transaction limits for person-to-merchant (P2M) payments.

1. Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi has directed commanders to prioritise seven key areas to enhance the Indian Navy’s combat readiness and operational efficiency. These directives were issued during the ongoing Naval Commanders’ Conference, which commenced in Karwar, Karnataka, on April 5 and is concluding in New Delhi from April 7 to 10.

2. Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi conducted a detailed review of the operational preparedness of the Indian Army’s Vajra and Dagger Divisions during his visit to Punjab’s Jalandhar on Tuesday.

7. Embraer and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the LAAD Defence & Security exhibition in Rio de Janeiro.
