G20 Summit: World leaders gather at Bharat Mandapam.
Pime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday welcomed a host of world leaders, including United States President Joe Biden and United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, at the Bharat Mandapam, the venue of the G20 Summ

1. G20 SUMMIT BEGINNING TODAY.
The stage is set for the 18th G-20 Summit to be held in New Delhi from today. Several Global leaders arrived in the national capital to attend the Summit.

2. G20 Summit Delhi: Leaders’ Declaration will be voice of global south and developing countries, says Sherpa Amitabh Kant.

3. Government has set up a new Central Empowered Committee (CEC), replacing an ad hoc expert panel, which assisted the Supreme Court in matters of forest and environment issues.

4. Results declared for by-elections to seven assembly constituencies spread over six states.

(a) Tripura, both Boxanagar and Dhanpur Assesmbly seats have been wrested by BJP.

(b) West Bengal, the ruling Trinamool Congress candidate Nirmal Chandra Roy won the Dhupguri assembly seat in Jalpaiguri district.

(c) Kerala, Chandy Oommen of Congress swept the bypoll to Puthupally seat.

(d) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate Bebi Devi has won Dumri assembly constituency in Jharkhand.

(e) In Uttarakhand, BJP’s Parvati Das won from Bageshwar constituency.

(f) Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party’s Sudhakar Singh has secured a victory in Ghosi seat.

5. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur urged the nation to be a part of the Amrit Kalash Yatra, spanning across six lakh Indian villages.

6. Former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and H D Deve Gowda will not attend the G20 dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu for world leaders on Saturday due to “health reasons”.

7. Union Territory of Ladakh has issued fresh notification for elections to the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council elections for Kargil. Polling will take place on October 4 and the results for the council are to be declared on October 8.

8. KARNATAKA CM Siddaramaiah urged PM Modi to retract his reported “provocative statement” to “give a befitting reply” to Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his comments on Sanatana Dharma.

9. KARNATAKA is implementing a significant educational reform by discontinuing the SSLC and PUC Supplementary Examinations from the academic year 2023–2024. Instead, students will undergo three annual tests to reduce exam-related stress.

10.The Telangana High Court made it clear that no Ganesh idol made of plaster of Paris (PoP) cannot be immersed in the Hussainsagar or any water body in city limits. The court directed the GHMC, HMDA, the irrigation department and the police to make alternative arrangements like setting up baby ponds to immerse PoP idols.

11. The ‘wagh nakh’, an iron weapon shaped like tiger claws that was used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to kill Bijapur sultanate’s general Afzal Khan in 1659, is likely to be brought to Maharashtra from London in November, state Culture Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said.

12. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Friday handed over appointment letters to 710 newly recruited ‘patwaris’.

13. Salem district in the state of TAMIL NADU has gained acclaim for its sago production, which is widely recognized as Sabudana.

Salem Sago, the wet starch powder extracted from Tapioca roots in Salem district, Tamil Nadu, now proudly bears a GI (Geographical Indication) tag.

Indian Railways’ Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara and Airbus, a global aviation giant, have recently embarked on a strategic collaboration aimed at fortifying the Indian aviation sector. This partnership, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi.

5. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to discontinue the Incremental Cash Reserve Ratio (I-CRR), which was put in place to absorb surplus liquidity following the withdrawal of 2,000 rupees currency notes, in a phased manner beginning today.

On August 10, the RBI mandated banks to maintain an incremental cash reserve ratio (I-CRR) of 10 percent on the increase in their net demand and time liabilities (NDTL) between May 19, 2023 and July 28, 2023.

1. India will get its first Airbus C-295 tactical military transport aircraft this month, an official of the European aircraft manufacturer said.

2. India, Nigeria Ink $1B Military Deal; India to help the African nation boost its defense industry. Nigeria has expressed interest in the Indian Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, drones, and armored personnel carriers.

3. INS Sumedha arrived at Port Alexandria, Egypt on 06 September 2023 to participate in ‘Exercise BRIGHT STAR- 23’. This edition of the multinational Tri-Services military exercise will see participation from 34 countries. It is the largest ever joint military exercise in Middle East & North Africa region.

4. IAF tests indigenously developed Military Combat Parachute System: The Military Combat Parachute System is developed by ADRDE, a pioneer R&D lab of DRDO for the Design and Development of Aerodynamic Decelerators, Aerostat Systems.

5. The Border Roads Organisation will construct an airfield at an estimated cost of Rs 218 crore at the strategic Nyoma belt of eastern Ladakh. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the airfield on September 12 through videoconferencing.

6. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) will soon create another history by completing construction works of strategic Sela tunnel, world’s longest twin-lane tunnel above 13,000 feet, in border state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The BRO had created Guinness record for building road at 19,024 feet in Ladakh. BRO Director General Lieutenant General Rajeev Chaudhry had received the Guinness World Records certificate on 17.11.21 for the achievement of constructing and black topping world’s highest motorable road at 19,024 feet.
