Taking Boards twice a year optional
Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan has stated that the new system of twice-a-year board exams for Class X and XII will not be mandatory. The system aims to reduce stress on students who fear missing out on a single opportunity.
1. INDIAN AIR FORCE DAY 2023: The Indian Air Force celebrated its 91st anniversary in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. IAF organized the ceremonial parade at Air Force Station Bamrauli in Prayagraj. Over 2500 spectators including around 400 school children watched the parade.
The theme of Indian Air Force Day 2023 is “IAF – Airpower Beyond Boundaries”. This theme highlights the IAF’s growing capabilities and its commitment to defending India’s national security interests beyond its borders.

3. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that construction of 250 metre viaduct in Jammu and Kashmir in conjunction with a 395- metre Maroge Tunnel has been successfully completed.
4. The first steel bridge has been erected for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor in Surat, Gujarat, by the National High Speed Rail Corridor Limited (NHSRCL). The bridge of 70-metre length has been erected across National Highway-53. This is the first of the 28 steel bridges that will be a part of the MAHSR corridor.

6. MADHYA PRADESH minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia’s announcement that she would not be contesting the forthcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections has triggered speculations if her Shivpuri seat is being vacated for her nephew and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

1. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra visited the flash flood affected areas in Naga under Mangan district of Sikkim on Sunday. He assured relief and aid to the affected people.
2. Relief and rescue operations in full swing in flood affected areas of Sikkim; Death toll rises to 33.
3. Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang visited the affected areas near Phidang bridge in Dikchu and interacted with the people.
According to Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority.
The death toll from flash floods has gone up to 33 including 9 Army personnel. 105 people are still missing. 2563 people have been rescued so far and around 6847 persons have taken shelter in 28 relief camps. A total of 1320 houses were severely damaged.
4. In Karnataka, 14 people were charred to death in a major fire at a cracker shop-cum-godown at Attibele on 7th Oct @3.30 pm. The place is about 10 km from Hosur in Tamil Nadu. All the victims hailed from Tamil Nadu. Nearly 35 people working at the godown .

1. The Indian Army is contemplating inducting India’s Olympian and former world champion boxer Mary Kom as an officer. Once confirmed, Mary Kom will join the Territorial Army (TA) as an honorary officer.
The TA has conferred honorary ranks upon eminent citizens, which include people from diverse fields. Currently, Kapil Dev,
Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Abhinav Bindra hold the rank of honorary lieutenant colonels in the Territorial Army. Sachin Tendulkar is honorary group captain with the IAF.
Politicians Anurag Thakur and Sachin Pilot are serving as honorary captain and lieutenant, respectively. Subir Raha from the corporate world too has served with TA.
2. India’s Territorial Army, celebrating its 75th year of existence, has recruited a batch of Mandarin language experts to serve as interpreters during Border Personnel Meetings between India and China. The TA is also in the process of hiring cyber security experts.
3. Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari on Sunday unveiled a new ensign of the Indian Air Force (IAF), replacing the existing one that was adopted more than seven decades back. The existing ensign was adopted in 1950, replacing the Royal Indian Air Force ensign that featured the Union Jack and the RIAF roundel (red, white and blue).
4. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will pay a four-day visit to Italy and France beginning Monday to expand bilateral strategic engagement and explore industrial cooperation for joint development of military hardware.
