DY Chandrachud becomes 50th chief justice of India

1. Justice DY Chandrachud becomes 50th Chief Justice of India, takes oath in Rashtrapati Bhavan. Justice Chandrachud succeeds Chief Justice UU Lalit who retired on November 9.
Justice Chandrachud will serve as the CJI for two years till November 10, 2024. Supreme Court judges retire at the age of 65.

2. Country’s first privately developed rocket, Vikram-S, is poised to create history as it undergoes final launch preparations at the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO’s) launchpad in Sriharikota.

3. Rocket manufacturing start-up, Agnikul Cosmos on 08 Nov said that it successfully test fired a second stage semi-cryogenic engine.

According to Agnikul Cosmos, the single piece, fully 3D printed, second stage rocket engine powered by semi-cryogenic fuel “Agnilet” was test fired at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), part of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

16. The Election Commission has released the schedule for the bye-election in the Khatauli Assembly Constituency at Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The by-elections will be held along with the by-election on the Rampur Assembly and Mainpuri parliamentary constituency on 5th of December. The counting of votes will take place on the 8th of December.
