Indian Air Force’s MiG-21 crashes near Hanumangarh in Rajasthan; Three civilians killed.
In Rajasthan, three women were killed and three others were injured after an Air Force MIG-21 Fighter aircraft crashed into their home in a village of Hanumangarh District. The aircraft had taken off from the Suratgarh airbase for a routine exercise before it crashed due to some technical snag in Bahlol nagar village near Pilibanga area.

The pilot ejected safely from the aircraft and he is safe. The Air Force said that a helicopter was rushed to rescue the pilot who sustained minor injuries during the ejection.

5. Ladakh: National Apprenticeship Mela organizes at ITI Kargil in collaboration with NIELET. National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), an Autonomous Scientific Society under the administrative control of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MoE&IT) Government of India, was set up to carry out Human Resource Development and related activities.

6. Five cheetahs, three females and two males will be released from the acclimatisation camps into Kuno National Park’s free-ranging conditions before the onset of the monsoon in June.

7. Telangana CM K. Chandrashekar Rao on 08 May laid the foundation for the Hare Krishna Movement’s Heritage Tower, a 400-foot-tall structure that will be built on a six-acre campus in Narsingi at a cost of Rs 200 crore, and announced a Rs 25-crore donation for the tower.

8. Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will not be operating their full fleet for passenger services because of election-related trips on May 9 and 10 May.

CRIME REPORT

1. The Supreme Court issued a notice to the Bihar government and others in response to a petition filed by deceased IAS officer G Krishnaiah’s wife, Uma Krishnaiah, contesting the premature release of gangster turned politician Anand Mohan Singh from prison.

2. The second minor blast within 30 hours was reported on a heritage street near Golden Temple in Amritsar around 6 am on 08 May. No casualties were reported.

The first blast took place near the Bansal sweet shop. The second blast occurred near the same spot but on the opposite side.

3. Punjab government on Monday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe allegations of sexual misconduct against Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak.

4. Days after the murder of gangster-turned- politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Khalid Azeem (aka Ashraf), police have decided to shut all criminal cases against them. Atiq has 102 cases against him and was convicted in only one of them, while Ashraf is accused in 50 cases.

4. Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday seized three offices in Mumbai, worth over ₹41 crore, as part of a foreign exchange violation probe against a businessman Zavareh Soli Poonawalla, whose name figured in the Panama Papers.

5. Several farmers on Monday allegedly broke through barricades at Jantar Mantar to join wrestlers protesting against the alleged sexual harassment by WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh.

6. The recently launched Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express train was attacked with stones by unidentified miscreants on Monday. The incident occurred when the train was passing between Valapattanam and Chirakkal in Kannur.

7. Manipur CM N Biren Singh said around 60 people have lost their lives, 231 people have suffered injuries and around 1,700 houses have been burned down due to violence in the state.

8. The owner of the boat that capsized on Sunday evening, which resulted in the death of 22 people, including 15 children, was caught from the Kozhikode Beach area on Monday, police said. Very few had safety jackets: Survivor of Kerala boat tragedy said.

1. The RBI on Monday imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1.73 crore on the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) for furnishing incorrect credit information about expired credit cards with nil dues, to all four Credit Information Companies.

Does CM Mamata Banerjee sympathise with ISIS? Why would law and order get disrupted…if this movie is screened?” asked Adhikari.

1. PM Modi has lauded India’s first Indian Air Force Heritage Centre in Chandigarh.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the first-of-its-kind Indian Air Force (IAF) Heritage Centre today at Chandigarh. It was set up under a memorandum of understanding(MoU) between the Union Territory of Chandigarh and the IAF which was signed last year.
