Biotech Startup Expo 2022

1. India’s COVID vaccination coverage crosses 194 crore 57 lakh mark

2. PM Modi will inaugurate the Biotech Startup Expo – 2022 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi today (09 June) and address the gathering.

3. The Biotech Startup Expo – 2022 is a two-day event to be held on 9th and 10th of this month. It is being organised by the Department of Biotechnology and Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council BIRAC.

4. PM Modi has greeted all, especially the Kashmiri Pandits on the auspicious occasion of Jyeshtha Ashtami. In a tweet, Mr Modi prayed to Mata Kheer Bhawani for everyone’s well-being and prosperity.

5. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur released the Volume-IV of selected speeches of President Ram Nath Kovind named ‘Loktantra Ke Swar’ and ‘Republican Ethics’ at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on 08 June.

7. India’s coal production has increased by around 34% to over 71 Million Tonnes from 53 Million Tonnes during May this year as compared to the corresponding month last year.

8. *BIHAR* CM Nitish Kumar has said that there is “no need” for an anti-conversion law in the state. “The government has always been alert here. And all people, be they from any religious group, live in peace,” Nitish Kumar said. Union minister Giriraj Singh had earlier said that there is a need for an anti-conversion law in the state

9. *DELHI* : The use of coal in Delhi and adjoining areas, including Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, will be banned from January 1, 2023, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has said in an order.

10. Delhi reported 564 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, an increase of 114 cases as compared to Tuesday’s tally. The national capital reported one death and the positivity rate surged to 2.84% as compared to the previous day’s tally of 1.92%.

11. *HIMACHAL* : The Atal Tunnel, Rohtang, will remain shut for vehicular traffic during President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit on June 11. The President, who is arriving in Himachal on Friday to attend the convocation of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) is scheduled for a short visit to Lahaul-Spiti, Manali and Atal Tunnel on Saturday.

15. *PUNJAB* : Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Wednesday said gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, currently in Tihar Jail, is the mastermind in last month’s murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, while Pune Rural police claimed to have arrested a close associate of the suspected main shooter in a previous murder case in Maharashtra.

16. *WEST BENGAL* : West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee danced with a group of tribal women during a mass wedding ceremony in North Bengal’s Alipurduar. A video shows the Chief Minister blessing the newly-married couples.

1. The Union Govt has rejected media reports that rate of TDS on Virtual Digital Assets, VDA has been reduced to 0.1%. The Income Tax Department clarified that the rate of TDS on VDA continues to be 1%.

2. The Reserve Bank of India has proposed to allow linking of credit cards to the Unified Payments Interface. RBI said, the facility would initially be enabled for Rupay Credit Cards, that too after the required system development is complete.

3. Employees of public sector banks on Wednesday threatened to go on strike on June 27 to press for issues related to pension and the demand for five-days-a-week work.
