1. Lok Sabha will discuss the issue of electoral reforms today. Rajya Sabha is scheduled to take up discussion on the 150th Anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram.
2. The Lok Sabha yesterday began a special discussion on the 150th anniversary of the National Song Vande Mataram. The national song was written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875.
PM Modi said that the mantra of Vande Mataram gave strength and inspiration to the entire country and energised the freedom struggle.
3. Randhir Jaiswal will organise the 5th Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Lecture in New Delhi today. The annual memorial lecture series is organised as a tribute to the towering statesman and visionary former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his lifelong contributions to nation-building and to shaping India’s foreign policy as External Affairs Minister and Prime Minister.
4. A new express train service connecting Tirupati and Sainagar Shirdi will be flagged off today by Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw. 🚆Regular weekly services will commence on December 14 from Tirupati every Sunday at 4 a.m. and December 15 from Sainagar Shirdi every Monday at 7:35 p.m.
5. The government said that multidimensional poverty in India is estimated to have declined from 29.17 per cent in 2013-14 to 11.28 per cent in 2022-23.

10. Haryana Government fixed the age of tourists and other vehicles operating in the National Capital Region under Haryana Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993. These rules will be called the Haryana Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2025.
As per the amendment, vehicles operating with All India Tourist Permits in the National Capital Region-NCR region will be allowed to operate for 12 years if they run on petrol or CNG, whereas diesel vehicles under the same permit category will be permitted for a maximum of 10 years. For non-NCR areas.
11. Andhra Pradesh government has decided to develop eight industrial cities along the state’s major ports under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. These new economic hubs will come up within the limits of existing and upcoming ports.

1. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Shekhawat alleged that the West Bengal government has not submited any proposal for the promotion of religious tourism in the state. Replying to the supplementaris in the Lok Sabha the Minister said the central government had given 68 crore rupees under the costal circuit initiative and 31 crore rupees for the development of Belur Math under the ‘PRASAD’ scheme.
2. Union Minister for Civil Aviation K Rammohan Naidu has said that there will be no compromise on air safety as it is the top most priority for the government. In reply to supplementaries regarding the implementation of the Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) guidelines, Mr Naidu informed the Rajya Sabha that the government is conducting an enquiry in connection with the situation leading to cancellation of several flights.

Turning the heat on Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration and Water Supplies Minister KN Nehru, the Enforcement Directorate sources claim to have written to the state government to file another FIR against him for an alleged Rs 1,020 crore corruption for what they call “manipulation and corruption in tenders and contracts.”
4. The Centre on Monday (December 8, 2025) opposed in the Supreme Court the request made by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to appear through video conferencing from Jodhpur jail in the case related to his detention under the National Security Act.
5. In a joint operation of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), a consignment of 5.9 Kg of Meth was seized near Aizawl and 8 persons of a transnational drug syndicate were arrested, including one Jabrul Hoque, who is the kingpin of the syndicate.
6. The new instructions regarding the production and supply of Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK) rice by the Union Government has led to fresh tussle between rice shellers of Punjab and the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
After the union government had stated this year, out of the 104 lakh tonnes of rice to be generated from the 156 lakh tonnes of procured paddy from Punjab, at least 25 lakh tonnes will be taken as upgraded rice, which has just 10 per cent broken grains. The remaining 80 lakh tonne will be accepted only as FRK-mixed rice for the central pool.
7. Goa Government suspends three officials over lapses in nightclub fire case:
Goa government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into Arpora fire incident which claimed 25 lives. A major fire at a club in Arpora, Bardez Taluka, also injured several others, prompting immediate action from the local authorities. The cause of the fire is yet to be known. Control rooms have been set up for the swift and efficient monitoring of the incident.

1. The Army Service Corps (ASC), the oldest logistics arm of the Indian Army, marked its 265th Corps Day at the ASC Centre and College in Bengaluru.
Established in 1760, the Corps has supported every major campaign involving Indian forces. Its role has expanded from traditional supply responsibilities to managing complex logistics across varied terrains, including high-altitude areas, deserts, dense forests, and active conflict zones.

Operation Sagar Bandhu, which was launched to provide urgent Search & Rescue and Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief (HADR) support to Sri Lanka, Indian Navy has deployed four more ships INS Gharial, LCU 54, LCU 51 and LCU 57 for supplying HADR stores to cyclone-affected regions of Sri Lanka.
3. The Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala—India’s premier institution for naval officer training—is proud to host the Admiral’s Cup 2025, scheduled from 08 – 13 Dec 2025. Recognised as one of the world’s most respected naval sailing championships, this year’s 14th edition will witness participation from 35 international countries, reflecting a significant increase in global representation.
4. Punjab’s Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) has achieved a new milestone as its 50 cadets are currently undergoing training at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune. This is the largest strength of the institute in NDA since its inception in 2011. According to official sources, the under-training NDA cadet strength of the institute, set up at Mohali, is a close second to that of the prestigious Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC).
As of now, 278 cadets have joined Service Training Academies since its inception, and 181 have been commissioned as officers in the Defence Services.
