1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit flood-hit Punjab on Tuesday to take stock of the situation.

2. The Delhi Government today flagged off 52 trucks carrying relief material for the victims in the flood affected regions of Punjab. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, the Delhi Government will continue providing aid to the people of Punjab until the situation is under control.

3. Due to heavy rains and land slides, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44) remained closed to vehicular traffic for the sixth consecutive day.

4. An inter-ministerial Central team will reach Uttarakhand today to assess the damage caused by heavy rains and landslides during the monsoon season. The team will visit disaster-hit areas to review the ground situation.

5. The iconic Lalbaug cha Raja – one of the most popular and revered Ganesh idols of Mumbai – was immersed in the Arabian Sea on Sunday night after unexpectedly being delayed because of high tide and technical challenges leading to tension and emotions.

7. Karnataka is introducing 15% NRI quota seats in government medical colleges, Sharan Prakash R. Patil, Minister for Medical Education, has announced.

8. Arunachal Pradesh to Host Inaugural ‘Sun Rise Festival’ at Dong to Boost Tourism
Scheduled for 29!December 2025, to 2 January 2026, the five-day event will celebrate the state’s cultural richness, natural beauty, and adventure tourism potential.

9. Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar kicked off Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, a new scheme aimed at providing employment opportunities for women. Under this scheme, one woman from every family in the state will be provided financial assistance to start a business of her choice. As the first installment of financial support, each selected woman will receive 10,000 rupees via DBT to start her chosen employment activity.

10. Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation C.S. Rao announced that tourism in North Sikkim is set to resume from today. Tourists will be allowed to reach up to Lachung, Yumthang Valley and Zero Point. It said that three sites in Sikkim-Nathula, Chola, and Doklam are part of the initiative. Nathu La was already opened, but Cho La and Doklam will be opened from the 27th of this month.

11. Northern Railway will run a pair of local passenger train service between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra station and Sangaldan station for five days from Monday. This will aid the passengers stranded due to incessant rains and flash floods of Reasi and Ramban.

12. PM Modi yesterday attended the Sansad Karyashala in New Delhi. In this workshop, senior BJP leaders and Members of Parliament across the country, exchanged their valuable perspectives on diverse issues.

13. In Kerala, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism Suresh Gopi said that maximum consideration will be given for tourism-related projects in Alappuzha. He inaugurated the Payippad boat race in Alappuzha district of Kerala.

1. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a batch of pleas today challenging the Election Commission’s 24th June decision to conduct a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar.

2. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has dismissed an informal message being circulated on social media platforms, claiming that certain Transition Benefits under GST will be applicable, related to Unutilised cess credit, ITC of exempted supplies and New price adjustment provisions, from the 22nd of this month.

3. A three-judge Bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai is scheduled on September 8 to hear a petition seeking contempt action against the State of Tamil Nadu for appointing G. Venkatraman as the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP)/Head of Police Force in-charge on August 31.

Adani Power on Saturday said it has inked a pact with Bhutan’s state-owned utility Druk Green Power to set up a 570MW hydro project entailing investment of Rs 6,000 crore, in the Himalayan Kingdom.

As per the pact, Adani Power and Druk Green Power Corp Ltd (DGPC), will initiate the the peaking run-of-river Wangchhu hydroelectric project on a BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, Transfer) model.

1. Indian filmmaker Anuparna Roy scripts history by winning Orizzonti Award for Best Director at Venice Film Festival for ‘Songs of Forgotten Trees’.

2. The Pushpa team won five big awards at the SIIMA held in Dubai on Saturday for Pushpa 2: The Rule. Director Sukumar, lead actors Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, music composer Devi Sri Prasad, and producer Naveen Yerneni of Mythri Movie Makers attended the show. After winning the awards, Sukumar confirmed that the third part of the film, Pushpa 3: The Rampage, will definitely be made.

3. On Sunday, September 7, Akshay Kumar joined a beach cleanup event at Mumbai’s Juhu Beach, organized the day after Ganpati Visarjan. The initiative also included participants like Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani.

1. Officers Pass Out from Officers Training Academy in Chennai to join Indian Army
On Saturday (September 6, 2025), a spectacular military parade at the Parameswaran Drill Square of OTA Chennai marked the passing out ceremony of Officers of Short Service Commission (SSC) and equivalent courses.

A total of 155 officer cadets (130 men and 25 women), who completed their training at OTA Chennai in an intergrated programme of one year, were commissioned into various Arms and Services of the Indian Army. Additionally, 21 foreign officer cadets — nine men and 12 women — from nine friendly foreign countries successfully completed their training.

2. The Government has dismissed a manipulated video circulating on social media that falsely attributed statements to Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi. The video misleadingly suggests that General Dwivedi claimed India lost fighter jets and soldiers during Operation Sindoor. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau, in a social media post, clarified that the content is fake and AI generated and urged people not to fall for such misinformation.

3. DRDO’s Defence Technology and Test Centre, Lucknow, organised a conclave at Amausi Campus yesterday to apprise and collaborate with MSMEs and start-ups for Defence R&D and production with an aim to further develop the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor.
