1. The IMD has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for several states/UTs for July 8 and 9. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely in Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on both the days. It is very likely over Assam, Meghalaya and Rajasthan on July 9.

2. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported a 7% deficit in All India Seasonal cumulative rainfall during the current monsoon season.

6. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Friday shared a video of moving Chandrayaan-3’s launch vehicle LVM3-M4 to the launch pad. Chandrayaan-3, which is India’s third lunar mission, is scheduled to take off on July 14 at 2:35 pm. In 2019, the Chandrayaan-2 mission’s Vikram lunar lander crashed on the Moon.

7. The Bureau of Water Use Efficiency (BWUE) and Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) have signed an MoU with the aim of achieving a Water Positive India on 7th July 2023.

8. Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri on 7th July 2023, Friday informed that special fuel stations selling E20 petrol will be available across India by 2025.

9. In Union Territory of J&K, over 17,000 Yatris paid their obeisance at Shri Amarnathji Holy Cave on Thursday. Subsequently, the cumulative total of pilgrims who have performed the darshan of the naturally formed Ice Shiv Lingam of Lord Shiva at Shri Amarnathji Cave has reached about 85,000 till now.

10. In Kerala, over 7800 persons have been shifted to 203 relief camps set up at various places across the state due to recent heavy rains. Pathanamthitta district has the highest number of 70 relief camps. Over 790 families have been lodged in these camps.

11. Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey visited a relief camp opened in Imphal West district on 7th July 2023, Friday and interacted with the displaced people who have been taking shelter there.

12. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday announced a 37-km new metro line that will connect Sarjapura and Hebbal in Bengaluru. Siddaramaiah said the new line will be built at an estimated cost of ₹15,000 crore.

13. Andhra pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s three-day schedule in Kadapa district, will be marked by a hectic schedule of inaugurations, laying of foundations and presence at the Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy birth anniversary observance at Idupulapaya.

14. In a setback to Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra legislative council deputy chairperson and senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Neelam Gorhe on Friday joined the rival Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

4. At least three people, including a 17-year-old boy, were killed following a gunfight in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Friday. As per reports, the teenager was hit by a bullet when he was trying to escape from his village after a gunfight broke out between rival armed miscreants.

5. Due to a fire incident of train number. 12703 Howrah and Secunderabad, on Friday, South Central Railway has cancelled, partially cancelled and diverted several trains. Falaknuma Express coaches caught up in fire was running late between 2 to 3 hours, the accident took place around 11 am.

6. Pakistani woman and her Indian partner, both of whom were arrested by the police in connection with her illegal stay in India, were on Friday granted bail by a court in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida.

1. Russion energy giant Rosneft has took a significant move towards enhancing trade ties with India by appointing a former Indian Oil Cooperation (IOC) director Govind Kottis Satish as its board member.

4. China’s central bank People’s Bank of China has imposed a $984-million fine on Alibaba affiliate Ant Group. The bank said that the penalty was imposed as Ant Group violated various laws and regulations, including around corporate governance, consumer protection and anti-money laundering requirements.

5. Reliance Industries Limited’s (RIL) board has approved reducing the equity share capital held by non-promoter shareholders in its retail arm Reliance Retail. The company will reduce equity share capital held by shareholders other than its promoter and holding company, Reliance Retail Ventures. The company will pay ₹1,362 per share towards the capital reduction.

6. Microsoft India President Anant Maheshwari has resigned from his position after a tenure of nearly seven years.

1. The Indian Navy marching contingent arrived in France to participate in the Bastille Day Parade on the 14th of this month.

2. On Thursday, a 269-member tri-services contingent of the Indian armed forces left for Paris on board two C-17 Globemaster aircraft. Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy, a woman helicopter pilot, will lead the IAF’s marching contingent at the parade.

3. Ministry of Defence signed, in New Delhi on July 07, 2023, a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for procurement of two Dornier Aircraft for Indian Coast Guard (ICG) along with associated Engineering Support package at an overall cost of Rs 458.87 crore.

4. In a major step towards promoting digitisation and in sync with Digital India mission, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh launched an NCC Integrated Software in New Delhi on 07 July 2023. The NCC Integrated Software, developed in partnership with Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geo Informatics (BISAG), is a single window interactive software for Cadets, designed on the ‘Entry to Exit Model.

5. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended a deck reception onboard INS Trishul along with President of Zanzibar Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi and said that the presence of the Indian frigate here is a statement of India’s commitment to ensure peace and prosperity in the region. The Indian Naval Ship Trishul, a guided missile frigate, is visiting Tanzania.

6. Legendary Commander of Border Security Force (BSF) Parimal Kumar Gosh, who reportedly was the first Indian military officer to help Bangladesh freedom fighters in 1971, breathed his last on Thursday in New Delhi. He was 84.

7. People in Ladakh’s Sonam Valley recalled the pivotal role played by Colonel Sonam Wangchuk, fondly known as the “Lion of Ladakh during the Kargil War in 1999.

As a Major at the time, he fearlessly led an operation against Pakistani troops and captured the Chorbat La Top, which served as a turning point in the Kargil War and set the stage for subsequent successful battles fought by the Indian armed forces. For his exceptional bravery and leadership, he was honored with the prestigious Maha Vir Chakra.
