36th Surajkund International Crafts Mela

9. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin wrote to PM Narendra Modi requesting to consider the demand of Civil Service aspirants and to grant an extra attempt with corresponding age relaxation. This was for all aspirants who exhausted their last attempts due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

10. Budget Session of West Bengal Assembly to begin in Kolkata; budget to be tabled on Feb 15.

11. Aurus, an AI-powered robot and Triton, an AI-powered monitoring system are being used to augment life-saving capabilities on Goa’s beaches. Aurus can patrol extensive non-swim zones and alert tourists during high tide. Aurus is currently deployed at Miramar beach in North Goa.

12. Union Minister Smriti Irani’s daughter Shanelle Irani will be married to Arjun Bhalla. The wedding ceremony of daughter of Smriti Irani and Zubin Irani will be held in Khimsar Fort in Rajasthan.

CRIME REPORT

1. Supreme court to hear a petition filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against decision of Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena permitting members nominated by him to vote in Municipal Corporation elections for post of Mayor & Deputy Mayor.

2. In Jammu and Kashmir, Police have arrested three terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba in Srinagar and recovered cash amounting to more than thirty-one lakh and other incriminating materials from their possession.

3. TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Tuesday used an unparliamentary word in Lok Sabha during Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address. She used the word after finishing her speech while TDP MP Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu was addressing the Lok Sabha.

4. Rajasthan Police have registered a case against a 24-year-old man and a minor girl after a video showed them hugging on a moving motorcycle in Ajmer. The video showed the girl sitting on the motorcycle’s petrol tank facing the man and hugging him. The case was registered under IPC section 279 (rash driving) and 294 (obscene acts and songs).

5. The Delhi High Court will hear JNU student Sharjeel Imam’s bail plea on March 15. Imam, along with others, was booked under UAPA and the Indian Penal Code for allegedly being the “masterminds” of the riots that left 53 people dead and more than 700 injured. The violence occurred during protests against the CAA-NRC.
