1. India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crosses 129 crore 46 lakh
2. PM Modi inaugurated several development projects worth 10,000 crore rupees in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh on 07 Dec. These projects include the Fertiliser Plant, AIIMS and a new building of the regional centre of Indian Council of Medical Research-ICMR.
3. ANDHRA PRADESH: The state govt on 06 Dec banned the manufacture, storage, distribution, transportation and the sale of Gutka or Pan Masala, which contains tobacco and Nicotine, and other chewing tobacco products.
The orders were issued invoking provisions of Section 30(2) (a) of the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006.
4. MAHARASHTRA: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut met with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi this evening and later said there cannot be any opposition front without the Congress – a big message aimed at Mamata Banerjee after her “What UPA” taunt.
5. Court Notice To Maharashtra Minister For Comments On Wankhede Family : The Bombay High Court on Tuesday said that it seems that Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik has “wilfully breached” his undertaking given to the high court last month on not making any public statements against Narcotics Control Bureau’s Mumbai unit chief Sameer Wankhede and his family members.
6.MANIPUR: Assam Rifles has seized narcotics worth five hundred crore rupees in Moreh in Manipur. Moreh Battalion of Assam Rifles, based on hard and accurate intelligence launched a joint operation with Manipur Police, in the border town of Moreh in Manipur.
7. NAGALAND: Members of the government’s Core Committee on the Naga political issue will have a meeting with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the convenor of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), in Kohima on December 9 to decide on the approach in the aftermath of the civilian killings.
8. The Hornbill Festival, which is called the ‘Festivals of Festivals’, is a 10-day annual cultural fest of Nagaland that showcases the rich and diverse Naga ethnicity through folk dances, traditional music, local cuisine, handicraft, art workshops etc.
The start of this festival (December 1) marks the Nagaland statehood day. Every year the Hornbill festival is celebrated between December 1 and December 10 in the northeast region and in the state of Nagaland. The festival is named after the Indian Hornbill Bird.
9. PUNJAB : Former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh on 06 Dec met Union Minister and BJP Punjab election in-charge Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at his residence in Mohali amid talks of seat-sharing between the two parties ahead of 2022 state elections.
10. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi on 06 Dec launched a host of development projects worth Rs 25 crore including a 100-bed district hospital at a cost of Rs 20.72 crore.
He also inaugurated the newly constructed Shaheed Udham Singh bus terminal built at a cost of Rs five crore. Additionally, he announced a medical college in Fazilka to boost health services and studies in this border district.
11. Centre has released 402 crore rupees to Punjab Under Jal Jeevan Mission. In the current financial year, the Punjab has planed to provide Tap Water Connections to eight lakh 69 thousand rural households.
12. Baliawal has resigned as national coordinator of All India Congress Committee, spokesperson of Punjab Congress, incharge Kisan Congress (Haryana and Himachal Pradesh) and senior media panelist (Punjab Congress). He has also resigned as party member.
13. TAMILNADU : The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday announced an ex-gratia of ₹50,000 for the families of those who died due to COVID-19. The compensations will cover those involved in relief and preparedness activities. However, those eligible for the ₹25 lakh ex-gratia announced for frontline workers and children who’re eligible for compensation for losing their parents wouldn’t be covered in the compensation.
14. TELANGANA : Accusing the central govt of being “anti-farmer”, the TRS announced that its MPs will boycott both houses of Parliament for the remainder of the Winter Session.
Shouting slogans against the government and in support of farmers, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MPs staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. All the MPs were dressed in black on 07 Dec.
15. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has cautioned Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to exercise due care in the conduct of ongoing biennial elections to the Telangana Legislative Council. The biennial elections for 12 seats of the Telangana Legislative Council from nine local authorities constituencies will take place on December 10 this year. The elections are necessitated due to the retirement of the sitting members.

23. The quick reaction surface-to-air-missile Missile (VLSRSAM) , developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), was test launched from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur at about 3.08 pm on 07 Dec.
24. The missile has an operational range of 50 to 60 km and features mid course inertial guidance through fiber optic gyroscope and active radar homing in terminal phase.
25. The Army, Navy and Air Force conducted a joint helicopter drop exercise in Jammu and Kashmir on 07 Dec. The exercise was a drill to test behind-enemy-lines capabilities in case of an intense air defence and electronic warfare.
