Krishna Janmashtami, also known simply as Krishnashtami, Janmashtami, or Gokulashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu.

2. People across the country celebrate Sri Krishna Jayanti today:
JANMASHTAMI commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna, Lord Vishnu’s eighth avatar on Earth. The birth of Lord Krishna represents the triumph of good over evil.
Bhagavan Sri Krishna was born at midnight on Ashtami tithi (8th day) under Rohini Nakshatra.

The month of Lord Krishna’s birth is Shravan as per Amanta calendar and Bhadrapad in Purnimantha calendar.

3. In Maharashtra, Dahi Handi is organized on local and regional scales. A human pyramid is formed in order to break an earthen pot filled with buttermilk. There is huge competition and prizes worth lakhs are announced as rewards for these events

4. Aditya-L1 enters new orbit, in the second earth-bound manoeuvre of the Aditya L-1 mission.

5. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up for its next major project, the Gaganyaan mission, following the successful completion of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission and the launch of India’s first solar mission, Aditya-L1.

6. The current heavy-weight LVM-3 launch vehicle will be modified to become a Human-Rated Launch Vehicle (HRLV), capable of carrying a crew module and Indian astronauts to space in the future.

7. The One Week One Lab programme of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, CSIR will be organised from the 11th to the 16th of September this year.

8. Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh chaired a national conclave on enabling two crore Lakhpati Didi’s, who earn sustainable income of at least one lakh rupees per annum.

10. Government approves scheme for Viability Gap Funding for development of Battery Energy Storage Systems with an initial outlay of about Rs. 9,400 crore (BESS).

11. PM Modi on Wednesday asked his ministers to strongly refute opposition leaders on their controversial comments on Sanatan Dharma and expose them but told his ministerial colleagues to avoid the political row around the Bharat issue noting that it has been the country’s ancient name.

(a) It has been 74 years since September 18, 1949, The first debate on Article 1 was to begin on November 17, 1948. However, on the suggestion of Govind Ballabh Pant, the discussion on the name of our Country was postponed to a later date. On September 17, 1949 Dr B R Ambedkar presented to the House the final version of the provision, which included both ‘Bharat’ and ‘India’.
But over seven decades later, the debate still continues.

(b) The demand for setting up a Constituent Assembly to draft the Constitution of independent India was one of the key demands during the Indian freedom struggle.

(c) Article 1 of the constitution says that India, that is Bharat, shall be a union of states and the territory of India consists of that of the states, union territories specified in the First Schedule and other acquired territories. The acquired territories can be converted in to a state/states as per Article 2.

12. PM Modi has advised all Ministers to download the G20 India mobile app ahead of the upcoming G20 Summit. The Prime Minister said that the app would help the Ministers to interact with foreign delegates seamlessly.

13. Delhi Airport has made special arrangements for the G20 foreign delegation at Indira Gandhi Airport in New Delhi.

14. The last date for submitting the nominations for Padma Awards is 15th of this month. Online nominations for the Awards 2024 opened on 1st of May this year.

18. In Ladakh, 6 thousand participants have registered in 6 types of races in the upcoming 10th Edition of the Ladakh Marathon which is scheduled to start today at Leh. Both international and national runners have already arrived in Leh.

The four-day event will begin with two ultra marathons -the 122km long Silk Route Ultra and the 72 km long Khardongla Challenge. 47 Runners are registered for participation in Silk Route Ultra which is scheduled for today while with 261 registered runners, the Khardongla Challenge will be held on the 8th of September.

19. The upcoming airport in Ayodhya, also known as Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, is scheduled to commence its domestic operations in November this year.

1. Average processing time of Income Tax Returns (ITR) has reduced to ten days in the Assessment Year 2023-24. Average processing time of ITR was 82 days in the Assessment Year 2019-20, and 16 days in Assessment Year 2022-23.

2. SEBI issued guidelines to strengthen cyber security and cyber resilience framework for stock exchanges and other market infrastructure institutions (MIIs).

3. Centre has issued an advisory for mandatory stock disclosure of Masur or Lentil with immediate effect. All the stakeholders should mandatorily disclose their Masur stock on the stock disclosure portal managed by the Department of Consumer Affairs every Friday.

4. The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have recently unveiled the winners of the G20 TechSprint 2023 challenge in a prestigious award ceremony held in Mumbai. This initiative, launched by the RBI last May under India’s G20 presidency.

1. Indian Army troops continue to share their expertise and techniques with participating contingents during the ongoing Exercise Bright Star in Egypt. This is for the first time that the Indian Armed Forces are taking part in the biennial multilateral tri-service exercise, one of the largest in the Middle East and North African region.

2. Indian Air Force Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari interacted with top brass of the Indian Navy at the Naval Commanders’ Conference on Wednesday.

3. The annual training exercise, Trishul, of the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Western Air Command (WAC) began on September 4. The exercise will see activation of all air assets and force multipliers spread across the Line of Control with Pakistan to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.

“The exercise is scheduled from September 4-14 and will validate the command’s operational preparedness and will see the employment of all the frontline assets from fighter jets, transport aircraft, helicopters and other force multipliers in high tempo,” a defence official said.

4. Indian Air Force (IAF) and Drone Federation of India will co-host Bharat Drone Shakti – 2023 at the Indian Air Force airbase in Hindan Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh from the 25th of this month.

5. The Recent naval commanders’ conference (The second edition scheduled at New Delhi from 04 to 06 Sep 23) saw the navy showcase some of its ongoing and planned indigenous projects based on niche technologies in areas including combat platform integration, underwater domain awareness, cyber security, tactical communications and combat management systems;

even as a few newly designed uniform items that are set to be introduced were also displayed on the sidelines of the biannual event.

6. The Indian Navy has formally announced the start of preparations for its most ambitious voyage yet – the Sagar Parikrama IV. This will see a woman naval officer sail around the world, solo, assisted and without stops. Two officers have been selected from a pool of seventeen to embark on this mission. They are Lt Cdr Dilna K, who hails from Kozhikode, and Pondicherry native Lt Cdr Roopa Alagirisamy
