1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu embarks on a Four-Day visit to Odisha;
President Murmu will be witnessing the world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan to be held tomorrow at the holy coastal town of Puri.

2. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has has predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Coastal and South Interior Karnataka from July 7-9, and North Interior Karnataka on July 8. Other parts of South India will also be impacted by these weather systems. Kerala-Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam are in for heavy downpours from July 6-8, while Telangana will experience heavy rain from July 8-9.

3. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), which is an autonomous body of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, conducted the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE). The examination was held for 35 thousand 819 candidates at 71 centres, spread across 50 cities.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has approved a proposal to display nutritional information regarding Total Sugar, Salt and Saturated Fat in bold letters and increased font size on labels of packaged food items. The decision to approve the amendment in the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020 regarding Nutritional information labelling was taken in the 44th meeting of the Food Authority.

6. The Chief Minister of Mizoram Lalduhoma today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi. 9. New biweekly express train announced from Secunderabad to Goa

11. Heavy rain lashed parts of Himachal, including Kangra’s Dharamshala and Palampur where rainfall levels exceeded the 200-mm mark.

According to the emergency operation centre, 150 roads, including 111 in Mandi, 13 in Sirmaur, nine in Shimla, eight each in Chamba and Kullu, and one in Kangra district, are closed for traffic following torrential rains.

1. The Chennai police on Saturday said that they have secured eight suspects so far in connection with the murder of Tamil Nadu Bahujan Samaj Party president Armstrong.

Armstrong was hacked to death by an unidentified mob of 6 people near his residence in Perambur, Chennai on Friday evening.

2. The main accused in the Hathras stampede case, which claimed 121 lives after Satsang, have been arrested by the police. Hathras Police conducted a medical check-up of the main accused Devprakash Madhukar, arrested from Delhi and after that produced him in court. The key accused was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a magistrate court. 6 accused have already been arrested in this case.

5. In Telangana, Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka has sent a legal notice to former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for defaming her through a aroty video titled “Indramma Rajyam Isukasurula Rajayam”, which alleges that illegal mining by the sand mafia was running under the directions of ministers of the Congress government.

6. A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Madras High Court to strike down the Tamil Nadu government order providing Rs 10 lakh compensation to all the victims of the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy.
The submitted PIL argues that the victims were not freedom fighters or social activists who have lost their lives for the cause of the general public or for the sake of the society and had committed an illegal act by consuming spurious liquor.

7. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Harjinder Singh Dhami on Saturday batted for the release of jailed Waris Punjab De activist and Lok Sabha MP Amritpal Singh, “considering the huge support people have given to him”.

The Khalistani sympathiser, who won the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat in Punjab as an Independent while being lodged in a jail in Assam’s Dibrugarh district under the National Security Act, was sworn in as MP on Friday.
