1996 Lajpat Nagar blasts: Supreme Court sentences four men for life without remission
The blast took 13 lives and injured 38 people besides causing extensive damage to public and private property. Calling the chilling May 1996 Lajpat Nagar car bomb blast which killed 13 people and injured 38 an international conspiracy to destabilise India, the Supreme Court on Thursday reversed the acquittal of two Jammu and Kashmir Islamic Front (JKIF) militants
1. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said that Chandrayaan 3 will be launched on the 14th of this month around 2:35 PM from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.

7. The Civil Aviation Ministry has created an additional 1,222 new posts in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA).
8. The Centre has approved the draft notification to mandate the installation of air-conditioning systems in the cabins of trucks belonging to the N2 and N3 categories.
9. The Union Government approved the draft Digital Personal Data Bill and come before Parliament in the monsoon season.
10. Digital Personal Data Protection Bill (DPDP Bill) in one of the four proposed legislations in the IT and Telecom sectors to provide the framework for the rapidly growing digital ecosystem. This bill empowers the Data Protection Board (DPB) to levy a penalty of up to Rs.250 crore on the organizations found to be in breach.
11. Indore Municipal Corporation has become the first urban body in the country to receive the Extended Producers Responsibility credit by recycling 8 tonnes of banned single-use plastic items.

1. A Delhi court has summoned Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot on August 7 in a defamation case filed by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Shekhawat has claimed that CM Gehlot falsely accused him of being involved in the ₹900-crore Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society scam.
2.The Supreme Court on Thursday awarded life sentence without remission to four convicts in the 1996 Lajpat Nagar bomb blast case. Thirteen people were killed and around 40 injured in the explosion. The court pointed out that the matter has not been dealt with the required degree of promptitude and attention.
3. Three policemen have been suspended after a video showed them driving a car with a woman on the bonnet in Madhya Pradesh’s Narsinghpur district. Police were taking away the woman’s son, an alleged drug peddler, to police station and she was trying to stop his arrest.
4. Interpol has issued a red notice against Sahil Kumar, who is an accomplice of wanted Indian gangster Himanshu Bhau. Sahil and Himanshu are wanted for allegedly operating an extortion racket from Portugal.
5. At least three people were killed and eight were injured after a Maruti Eeco van jumped a divider and rammed into a DTC bus on Thursday in northeast Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar.
