President appointed New Governors for eight state

1. President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed New Governors for eight state: Haryana, Karntaka, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Tripura,Jharkhand, Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh.

a. . Bandaru Dattatraya: Haryana.

b. Thawarchand Gehlot – Karnataka.

c. Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel: Madhya Pradesh.

d. Sreedharan Pillai has been transferred to Goa

d. Ramesh Bais : Jharkhand Governor.

e. Satyadev Narayan Arya : Tripura,

f. Hari Babu Kambhampati : Mizoram.

2. Cabinet expansion likely on 07 Jul (Wednesday). There is also speculation that PM Modi will reshuffle the union cabinet. Currently, the cabinet has 52 ministers and it is said that around 20 more faces will be accommodated. Women’s representation will also be increased in the council, and the average age of the leaders will be lowest in the history of Independent India. The existing cabinet will meet at 11 am today (Wednesday).

3. National COVID-19 recovery rate improves to 97.17%.

4. Common Eligibility Test, CET for job aspirants will be conducted across the country from early 2022. The National Recruitment Agency (NRA) will conduct CET to screen & shortlist candidates for jobs in Govt sector for which recruitment is presently carried out through the Staff Selection Commission, Railway Recruitment Boards & Banking.

5. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said National Testing Agency will be holding the 3rd session of JEE (Main)-2021 Examination from the 20th July to 25th July. The fourth session will be held from 27th July to 2nd August 2021.

6. Uttarakhand govt. extends ongoing COVID curfew by another week. It will remain in place till 6 a.m. on the 13th of July. Opening of shopping malls with 50% capacity.

7. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar made an aerial survey of flood affected areas of the state due heavy monsoon rains.

8. CM of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, launched a scheme to provide monetary support to COVID-19 affected families, he launched an online portal which will help in providing financial assistance to families. Under this scheme, Rs 50,000 ex gratia will be provided to every family who lost a member to COVID-19. An additional of Rs 2,500 per month will be provided to them if deceased was the only source of bread to that family.

9. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin opposed the Draft Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2021, saying the proposed “amendment itself is against the spirit of promoting rightful thinking in civil society,” and demanded for its withdrawal.

10. Drones banned in 3 more districts of J-K: District authorities in Samba, Ramban and Baramulla in Jammu & Kashmir on 06 Jul banned the storage, sale or possession of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles.

11. Punjab CM Amarinder Singh on 06 Jul (Tuesday) met Congress president Sonia Gandhi at her residence amid infighting in the state unit, and said whatever decisions she takes on changes in the organisation and the government will be acceptable.

12. Former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammad Izhar Alam passed away due to cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Mohali on 06 Jul (Tuesday). He was 72.

13. A funeral service for tribal rights activist & Jesuit priest Stan Swamy, who died in a private hospital while waiting for medical bail in the Elgar Parishad case, was held at the St Peter’s church in suburban Bandra on 06 Jul (Tuesday).

Today Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy (Y S Rajashekhar Reddy) birthday is celebrate in Andhra Pradesh (8 July 1949 – 2 September 2009), popularly known as YSR, was a two-time Chief Minister of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, serving from 2004 to 2009. He was elected to the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Lok Sabha from the Kadapa constituency for four terms and to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for five terms from the Pulivendula constituency.

15. Indian Air Force (IAF) station in Jammu, Air force has decided to procure 10 anti-drone systems in order to stop such attacks in future across border areas.

16. The central govt is likely to restore the 7th pay commission Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) benefits for the central govt employees & pensioners soon. DA is revised twice every year in January and July.

17. What are military theatre commands & why does India want to switch to them
India — The theatre command system is intended to bring better synergy between the three branches of the armed forces. Instead of separate commands for the army, navy, air force, a unified command will be set up to be led by a single commander. The plan is to have five unified or theatre commands, which will help in better planning and military response, and aim to have a unified approach to fighting any future war.

18. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is inviting applications for graduate and technician apprenticeships at its headquarters in Bangalore. Interested and eligible candidates may find the application form at the official ISRO website — isro.gov.in. The last date to submit applications is July 22.
