According to the state’s public health department, a total of 173 suspected patients have been detected to date, out of which 140 patients have been confirmed to be suffering from GBS. The government on Thursday inked contracts worth more than Rs 10,000 crore with defence entities for the procurement of Area Denial Munition Type-1 and high-explosive rockets with an enhanced range for the Pinaka multiple launch rocket system, aiming to enhance the Indian Army’s firepower capabilities.

An Air Force fighter jet Mirage-2000 fighter aircraft of the IAF crashed in an agriculture field in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district on Thursday after developing a snag, a defence spokesperson said. Both pilots ejected safely and were being airlifted to Gwalior by a helicopter. The Indian Air Force has ordered an investigation into the incident.
4. The Indian Army is significantly enhancing its firepower with the induction of 70,000 AK-203 assault rifles as part of a landmark Indo-Russian defence deal. These rifles, produced under a technology transfer agreement, mark a critical step in modernizing the Army’s infantry weapons and phasing out the aging INSAS rifles.
