9. Gogabeel Lake, located in the Katihar district of Bihar, has been officially designated a Ramsar site, gaining global recognition as a wetland of international importance. With this, India adds yet another name to its growing list of protected wetlands under the Ramsar Convention, strengthening its commitment to wetland conservation and biodiversity protection.

10. The Centre has revised the qualification criteria for its largest electric bus tender to attract more participants, allowing not only manufacturers but also operators, infrastructure developers, and municipal bodies to compete, according to a senior government official.

11. Tamil Nadu government is moving ahead with its free laptop scheme for college students, with Acer, Dell and HP identified as the key original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to supply the devices. Around ten lakh laptops are expected to be distributed in the first phase.

12. India has taken a major step towards responsible artificial intelligence regulation with the release of its first AI Governance Guidelines. Issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the framework emphasises adaptive regulation within existing laws instead of introducing a separate AI-specific legislation.

DEFENCE News

1. India and Israel have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral defence collaboration and technology sharing. The agreement, signed in Tel Aviv after the 17th meeting of the India–Israel Joint Working Group (JWG) on defence cooperation.

2. Security forces have launched a major anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district after receiving credible intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the region. The encounter, taking place in the Chhatru area, is being jointly conducted by the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

3. The Indian Army’s Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) has launched new Drone Hubs within the Southern Command. These hubs are dedicated to the in-house design, development, and mass production of combat-ready drones.

4. India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) has issued an invitation for industry participation in the design and development of a Jam-Tolerant Geared Rotary Actuator for advanced aerospace applications.

5. the Eastern Command is set to host a major joint exercise named ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ from November 11 to 15 at Mechuka, about 30 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh.
