8. Manipur violence flares again – Four people were shot dead in Manipur’s Churachandpur when security forces were carrying out evacuation of Meiteis in the area. This shooting in Churachandpur comes after days of fierce clashes between the state’s majority Meitei community and the Kuki tribe, which had also originated in the area on Wednesday. While state capital Imphal has seen Kukis at the receiving end of the violence, the Meiteis have been targeted in areas dominated by hill tribes. Over 500 people from the violence-hit Manipur have taken shelter in Assam’s Cachar district.
9. Ticket checkers in the Mumbai division of the Central Railway have been given body cameras and QR code to accept fines from passengers on a pilot basis. As many as 50 such body cameras have been procured at ₹9,000 each. “The body cameras would help maintain transparency during ticket checking and prevent misbehaviour and violent acts,” Central Railway said.

1. India’s foreign exchange reserves surged by $4.532 billion to record a 10-month high of $588.78 billion for the week ended April 28, according to RBI data.
2. Finance Ministry has allowed 22 financial companies, which are already reporting entities under the PMLA, to undertake Aadhaar-based authentication of clients. As per an official notification, these companies will be able to verify the identity of clients and beneficial owners’ details using their Aadhaar numbers. These firms include Amazon Pay, Hero FinCorp and Godrej Finance, among others.
3. Ex-United Bank Of India Chief Gets CBI Clean Chit In Corruption Case: Former banker Archana Bhargava and her family were given a clean chit by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a corruption case after no incriminating evidence was found in the agency’s probe.
The CBI had alleged in its case filed in 2016, that Ms Bhargava abused her position and had obtained monetary benefits for Rank Mercantile Private Limited (RMPL), a company owned by her husband and their son.

1. Five Army soldiers martyred in terror attack in Rajouri; militants triggered an explosive device following an encounter with security forces in the forests of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Friday morning. Following the incident at Kesari area of Kandi hamlet, mobile internet services were suspended in Rajouri.
2. IAF pilots have started training on a C-295 transport aircraft simulator in Airbus’s Spanish facility in Seville. It was reported earlier that Spain will deliver the first military transport aircraft C-295 to the IAF in September.
3. A total of 24 officers from the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy have completed Chief Administrative Officers’ course conducted by the Air Force Administrative College (AFAC) in Coimbatore.
Course commenced on April 10 this year with an intake of 21 officers from the IAF and three officers from the Navy. The course was aimed at updating the participants with requisite knowledge to function effectively as Chief Administrative Officers at various stations of the IAF.
