13. Amid the raging controversy over the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) allegedly removing certain portions on Mughal courts from class 12 history textbooks, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Wednesday took a swipe at the BJP government.
NCERT, as part of “syllabus rationalisation” exercise last year, removed certain portions regarding 2002 Gujarat riots, Mughal courts, Emergency of 1970s and Cold War, among other topics, from its textbooks. Chronology of events of Gujarat riots and NHRC’s criticism of Gujarat government have been removed. ‘Gandhiji’s death had magical effect on communal situation’ is also among removed segments.
