1. President Snt. Droupadi Murmu has urged students to make use of the vast learning resources available in the digital age. Speaking at the Convocation ceremony at the Central University of Tamilnadu, Tiruvarur yesterday.

2. PM Modi has hailed the next-generation reforms in GST announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The government has decided to cut GST rates, which will benefit the common man, farmers, MSMEs, middle-class, women and youth. The Government has reduced GST on several items across different categories. GST reducing rate will be effective from 22th of this month.

3. Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Minister of Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi launched the Guidelines for Co-location of Anganwadi Centres with Schools at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

4. The PM Narendra Modi-led Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave its approval to a Rs 1,500 crore incentive scheme to promote recycling of critical minerals in the country. The scheme aims at developing recycling capacity in the country for the separation and production of critical minerals from secondary sources.

6. The Union Public Service Commission Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar announced that UPSC will establish a Centre of Excellence as a repository of best practices from UPSC and State Public Service Commissions.

7. The Punjab government has declared the state as disaster-hit after unprecedented floods left more than 1,200 villages submerged, making it the worst flooding in decades. Continuous heavy rainfall and breaches in embankments of major rivers have inundated vast stretches of farmland, houses, and infrastructure.

8. The Telangana State government has announced plans to celebrate Bathukamma on the lines of Brazil’s Rio Carnival, aiming to draw international tourists and showcase Telangana’s cultural heritage on a global platform. Bathukamma is the festival of flowers, celebrated before the Dasara festival in Telangana, in which women worship goddess Gowri by placing her on a floral arrangement.

9. In Andhrapradesh, The Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) has launched Operation SWARNA (Swarnamukhi Waterbody Action for River and Nala Awareness), a large-scale project to restore and protect the Swarnamukhi River. This initiative aims to remove encroachments, revive the river’s flow, and safeguard its environment.

10. The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) launched Phase II of its financial literacy initiative, Niveshak Didi, in Hyderabad. This programme focuses on empowering rural communities, especially women, by enhancing financial awareness and promoting secure financial practices.

11. The Government of India and Bihar have taken a major step to empower rural women entrepreneurs. On 2nd September 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited via video conferencing. The event saw the transfer of Rs. 105 crore into the institution’s bank account. This initiative aims to provide affordable and timely financial support to women associated with Jeevika self-help groups in Bihar.

12. Heavy to very heavy rain over the Western Himalayan region, Punjab and Haryana is expected to decrease from Thursday onwards but moderate and isolated heavy rainfall is likely to continue for one more week over these areas, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).

1. The Delhi High Court has upheld the decision of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) rejecting bid of a company in a tender for procuring 200 Sniper Rifles along with day scope and 20,000 Lapua Magnum Ammunitions.

2. The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that alleges misutilisation of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel by some senior officers. The petitioner has claimed that the personnel, instead of being deployed for national security duties, were being used for personal and domestic work of higher-ranking officials.

3. A Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court in Chennai sentenced Noorudeen, 39, of Vyasarpadi, to five years in jail for trafficking counterfeit Indian currency. The judgment connects his role in Chennai’s fake note racket with an international conspiracy directed by a serving officer of Pakistan Navy. The wider plot involved Sri Lankan national Sakir Hussaien and Amir Zubair Siddiqui, then posted as counsellor at Pakistan High Commission, Colombo.

4. Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy expressed displeasure over delays in issuing permissions for multi-storey buildings, gated communities and other projects under the ‘Build Now’ scheme within the HMDA limits.

5. In a major political development, K. Kavitha has resigned from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), a day after being suspended from the party. Kavitha, daughter of BRS chief and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, sent her resignation to the party leadership citing her suspension as the reason.

6. Twenty Naxalites, including nine women, surrendered in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh. The Naxalites cited disillusionment with Maoist ideology and internal conflicts. They were also influenced by the state government’s development schemes. Surrendered Naxalites will receive assistance and rehabilitation.

1. A fresh spell of heavy rains compounded the flood situation in Punjab with the death toll rising to 37 on Wednesday, while crops on 1.75 lakh hectares of land in 23 districts got damaged by the worst deluge in the state since 1988.

2. Water entered homes and shops in the low-lying areas of the national capital, and parts of Noida were flooded, on Wednesday as the Yamuna river breached the 207.4-metre mark at 9 pm following more rainfall.
