Magnitude 6.4 earthquake hits Nepal; tremors felt in Delhi-NCR region
According to the National Center for Seismology, the quake struck Nepal at precisely 11:32:54 PM IST. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 28.84 degrees North latitude and 82.19 degrees East longitude, with a depth of approximately 10 kilometres.

1. The Supreme Court on Friday refused to interfere with the order passed by the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, Justice Pritinker Diwaker, transferring the case relating to the Kashi Vishwanath temple-Gyanvapi Mosque dispute to another bench from a single-judge bench.

2. An advocate has filed a petition in the Bombay high court seeking for all FIRs lodged in Maharashtra regarding the ongoing stir over the demand for Maratha reservation to be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

3. A 40-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly murdered after being raped and her body was chopped into pieces in a village in Banda, Uttar Pradesh.

1. November 3 marks the 76th death anniversary of Major Somnath Sharma.

Somnath Sharma, PVC (31 January 1923 – 3 November 1947), was a Major of the Indian Army, and the first recipient of the Param Vir Chakra (PVC), India’s highest military decoration, which he was awarded posthumously.

He was commissioned into the 8th Battalion, 19th Hyderabad Regiment, in 1942. In Indo-Pakistani War of 1947-1948, Somnath Sharma was killed in action on 3 November 1947.

2. Former Chief Justice Rajendra Menon of the Delhi High Court has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) for a four-year term.

3. The Supreme Court on Friday took exception to Indian Army’s defiance to the top court’s orders relating to entitlements of women officers towards promotions and empanelment to Colonel rank.

4. Kerala’s CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) to enhance indigenisation in India’s aerospace and defence sectors.

5. INDIA-RUSSIA TALKS PENDING FOR FINAL S-400 MISSILE SYSTEM DELIVERIES : In 2018-19, India signed USD 4.2 billion contract with Russia for five squadrons of S-400 missile defence system. Out of these, three have already arrived in the country. The delivery of the last two was delayed due to the Russia-Ukraine war.

The S-400 has an operational range of up to 400 kilometers and the surveillance range of up to 600 kilometers. It can engage targets up to an altitude of 30 kilometers flying at a speed of 17,000 kilometers per hour.

6. Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) – an agency under the state-owned Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) – revealed an updated configuration of the Abhyas High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) at the eighth Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing Show (ADMS) 2023 held in Bangalore on 26 and 27 October.

1. *PROJECT KUSHA’ @ INDIA’S OWN VERSION OF ‘IRON DOME’? The ambitious indigenous project will be developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at an estimated budget of Rs 21,700 crore. Like Israel’s Iron Dome system, it will provide the Indian Air Force to detect and destroy hostile targets from a large range.

2. Rooster drones, indigenously developed devices that can roll as a robot and fly as a drone, will be handed over to the Northern Command of the Indian Army at an event at Gandhinagar-based Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) on Friday.
