Bihar caste survey | OBCs, EBCs comprise more than 63% of State’s population
Bihar government on Monday released its caste survey report and said “it’s only a compiled data and no analysis of it has been done yet”. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar congratulated the survey team.

Bihar has become the first state to release data from a caste-based survey. The report indicates 36 per cent of the population are from Extremely Backward Classes, 27.1 per cent are from Backward Classes, 19.7 per cent are from Scheduled Castes and 1.7 per cent are from Scheduled Tribes. The general population is 15.5 per cent. The state’s total population is over 13.1 crore.

1. The Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign, which kicked off on September 15, reached its culmination on the eve of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on 02 Oct. This nationwide initiative, led by PM Modi.

2. Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department, Narayan Rane, inaugurated the ‘Khadi Mahotsav’ organized by Khadi and Village Industry (KVIC) in Mumbai.

3. ISRO commences preparations for india’s second mars mission: Mangalyaan-2,

Mangalyaan-2’s payload includes the Mars Orbit Dust Experiment (MODEX), a Radio Occultation (RO) experiment, an Energetic Ion Spectrometer (EIS), and a Langmuir Probe and Electric Field Experiment (LPEX). Each instrument serves a unique purpose in unraveling the mysteries of Mars.

4. PM MODI VISITs

(a) PM Modi visit Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh to lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation multiple development initiatives worth around 19,260 crores rupees.

(b) PM Modi will visit Nizamabad on Tuesday to launch multiple developmental projects worth Rs 8,021 crore, on his second visit to Telangana within three days.

(C) PM Modi dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth about Rs 7,000 crore in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. Prime Minister dedicated the Mehsana – Bhatinda – Gurdaspur Gas Pipeline which has been built at a cost of about Rs. 4500 crores.

(d) PM Modi chaired a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Central Election Committee (CEC) to finalize its candidates for the forthcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

6. E-Auction of mementos received by PM Modi has opened from Monday for general public. The bids will continue till 31st of October. The money collected from this auction will be donated to the Namami Gange Project to revitalize the sacred Ganges River.

7. Namma Metro Purple Line Status: The eagerly anticipated opening of two new stretches on Bengaluru’s purple metro line, namely Krishnarajapuram – Baiyappanahalli and Kengeri – Challaghatta lines, is scheduled for October 6.

8. TAMIL NADU’s seniormost Director-General of Police (DGP) Braj Kishore Ravi has taken voluntary retirement from service. He is likely to join the Congress party and contest on the ensuing Lok Sabha election from his native Bihar.

9. BIHAR government released the findings of its Caste based Survey on Monday which was undertaken in two phases this year. The officiating Chief Secretary of Bihar Vivek Kumar Singh released the data of much awaited Caste Based Survey in Patna.

10. HARYANA Police Sub-Inspector, Ram Lal Sharma, will be travelling to Africa to climb the highest peak of Mount Kilimanjaro’s in order to spread the message of making Haryana a drug-free state and the vision to promote adventure sports.

12. Telangana CM K. Chandrashekar Rao on Monday constituted a new Pay Revision Committee (PRC) for recommendations to revise salaries and pensions for government employees and pensioners, within six months. Rao also announced a 5 per cent interim relief for employees.

13. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is on a “personal, spiritual visit” to Amritsar for a day, Monday visited the Golden Temple where he heard the Gurbani Kirtan and performed sewa or community service.

1. Delhi Police has arrested a rewarded terrorist, Mohammad Shahnawaz Alam, who was also a member of the Pune ISIS module. He was on the National Investigation Agency’s most wanted list carrying a reward of three lakh rupees.

2. At least 24 people, including 12 newborn children, died within 24 hours at a government hospital in Maharashtra’s Nanded district. The authorities at Shankarrao Chavan Government Hospital on Monday said the deaths occurred due to a shortage of medicines.

3. Communal violence erupted in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district. The district administration on Monday imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the Ragi Gudda area of the Karnataka’s district after instances of stone-pelting were reported.

4. Jawaharlal Nehru University administration will constitute a committee soon to look into the repeated incidents of ‘anti-national’ slogans raised on campus.

5 labourers crushed to death by truck in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district. ​​​​The accident took place at around 5.30 am yesterday when the labourers were sleeping in makeshift huts along the side of a service road being constructed in Wadner Bholji village of the district.
