*Indian Railways has introduced new rules for booking train tickets, effective May 1, 2025, including the reduction of the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) from 120 days to 60 days. Additionally, passengers holding waiting list tickets are no longer permitted to travel in sleeper or AC coaches and must use general coaches. Finally, OTP verification is now required for all online ticket purchases.
5. The Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh, South India’s first of its kind, is set to hold its first convocation on June 10, 2025 at the Convention Centre of Andhra University in Visakhapatnam. President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and other dignitaries will be attending the convocation. A total of 197 students from five batches will receive their degrees during the ceremony.
6. Tamil Nadu’s main opposition AIADMK on Sunday announced two candidates for the June 19 biennial election to the Rajya Sabha from the state. On July 24, 2025, six RS members from Tamil Nadu will retire.

8. ISRO Conducts Successful Third Hot Test of Semi-Cryogenic Engine Power Head Test Article. On May 28, 2025, the Power Head Test Article (PHTA) underwent a third hot test at the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri, that was aimed at validating the engine’s ignition and start-up sequence and to derive optimum sequence for the integrated engine.
9. Sikkim to resume Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Nathu La after 5-year hiatus: the first batch of pilgrims arriving in Gangtok on 15th June 2025. The sacred pilgrimage to the abode of Lord Shiva will begin from Gangtok and proceed to Kailash and Mansarovar via the Nathu La Pass. Ten batches of 48 pilgrims each will undertake the 20-21-day journey, accompanied by liaison officers, cooks, and support staff.
10. Chandigarh stood united in remembrance and gratitude for the heroes of Operation Sindoor and the innocent lives lost in the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam. A tribute named ‘Sindoor Ka Sandesh – Na Bhooleyengey, Na Maaf Kareyngey’ was organised, which brought together citizens, families of martyrs and others in a solemn expression of national solidarity.
11. Punjab is preparing to observe the 350th Shaheedi Centenary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the 450th Foundation Day of Sri Amritsar Sahib with unprecedented grandeur and modern global outreach. The Shaheedi Centenary is falling in November this year, whereas the foundation day of Sri Amritsar Sahib will be celebrated in the year 2027.
12. Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said that Rule 280 of the Rules of Procedure will be reviewed and amended to align with the practices of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in accordance with the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021.
13. Kashmir has taken a big step in fruit transport. For the first time, fresh cherries from the valley will be sent by train from Katra (Jammu) to Mumbai. This new service will help small farmers who could not afford to send their fruits by air earlier.
14. The Andhrapradesh state government has approved a Rs 24 crore package for power infrastructure development in the Nellore Rural constituency. The funds will be used to provide three-phase electricity supply to 18 villages.
15. The Jharkhand government is set to establish its first tiger safari in the Barwadih Western Forest Range. This area is part of the Palamau Tiger Reserve. The initiative aims to enhance tourism and provide a conservation education centre.
16. Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has announced the JEE Advanced Result 2025. Students can access their results on the website- result25.jeeadv.ac.in.
17. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple weather alerts across the Karnataka state. Red alerts have been declared in six districts including Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, and Chikkamagaluru, warning of intense rainfall over the next three days.

2. The Delhi High Court has passed an order protecting the personality rights, and publicity rights of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, founder of Isha Foundation, and restrained various rogue websites from misusing his personality traits by deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI).
3. All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) president Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani on Sunday asserted that series of demonstrations against the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025, would continue, emphasising that the ‘fight’ was against the Union government and not against the Hindu faith or community.
4. In Chhattisgarh, 16 Maoists surrendered to police and CRPF officials in Sukma district.
5. In Mumbai, the Sahar Police have arrested four Nepali youths for allegedly attempting to travel to Gulf countries using fake documents. They had entered India from Bihar. Each of the accused had paid Rs. 2.50 lakh in Nepali currency to an agent for travel arrangements and forged documents.
6. National Commission for Women (NCW) issued a notice to Bihar government over the death of a minor rape victim in Muzaffarpur. Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident, the Commission has asked the State Chief Secretary and Director General of Police to ensure a thorough and impartial probe into the matter.
7. Former Telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has sought a postponement of the date to appear before the Justice P.C. Ghose commission of inquiry into the Kaleshwaram project barrages. Chandrashekar Rao, who was to appear on June 5, is learnt to have informed the commission that he would be able to do so on June 11, and that this request was accepted by the commission.

1. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced draft guidelines for gold loans, effective from 1 January 2026. This move aims to mitigate rising non-performing assets (NPAs) linked to gold loans. As gold prices soar, the demand for gold loans has surged across India. The RBI’s guidelines focus on ensuring responsible lending and protecting both borrowers and lenders.
2. Errol Musk, father of billionaire Elon Musk and a newly-appointed member of the global advisory board of homegrown company Servotech, arrived in India on Sunday. Apart from attending business-related meetings, he is likely to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya while in India.

1. Lt Gen Dinesh Singh Rana assumed charge as the 18th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN) on 01 June 2025. The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), based at Sri Vijaya Puram, is India’s first and only joint services operational command, integrating the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard to safeguard national interests in the strategically vital Indian Ocean Region.
2. Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann Appointed Senior Air Staff Officer of Western Air Command.
3. A 160-member Border Security Force (BSF) contingent, comprising 25 women personnel, will head to Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday for deployment with the UN peacekeeping mission.
Congo — the third largest country in Africa, bordering Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi — has been plagued with armed conflict for decades now.
4. Rajasthan is poised to become a significant hub for advanced small arms manufacturing within India, marking a major milestone for the state’s defence sector.
