1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects in Delhi today.

2. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dense fog conditions. Cold wave conditions continue to prevail in several parts of north India. The Met Department has said Northeastern regions, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience dense fog conditions in the night and morning hours during the next 2 days.

3. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, is likely to announce the withdrawal of the Northeast monsoon only around Pongal as a weather system is likely to bring scattered rain particularly over coastal Tamil Nadu from January 7.

4. The annual Urs of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti has formally begun in Ajmer. Pilgrims from across the country and abroad are arriving to participate in the 813th Urs. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will offer a chaadar on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday.

5. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to flag off three significant train services from Guwahati Railway Station on Friday, marking another milestone in enhancing connectivity in the Northeast. The new services include the Guwahati-New Lakhimpur Janshatabdi Express, New Bongaigaon-Guwahati Passenger Train, and Tinsukia-Naharlagun Express.

6. The movement of several trains is affected as dense fog has engulfed the northern region of the country, causing low visibility. According to Indian Railways, as many as 43 Delhi-bound trains have been delayed by up to five hours.

12. Telangana government has decided to extend the Metro Rail to Medchal and Shamirpet. Once completed, it will provide Metro Rail services to the extended suburban locations of Hyderabad for about 22-23 km from the city.

1. The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered that the fight over the Bhojshala temple-Kamal Maula mosque complex in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh be tagged and heard along with petitions challenging the validity of the Places of Worship Act which is being heard by a bench headed by the CJI.

2. The Maharashtra government has decided to return 4,849 acres of farmland to its original owners or their heirs by amending Section 220 of the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966. 1. Employment generation in the country has witnessed growth of 36 percent during the last ten years. According to the Labour and Employment Ministry, over 17 crore additional jobs were created from 2014 to 2024.

2. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has said that Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has processed nearly 16.73 billion financial transactions in a single month in December last year. UPI processed around 23.25 lakh crore rupees in the transactions done.

3. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced the constitution of a working group to revise the base year for the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) from the existing 2011-12 to 2022-23.
