President Droupadi Murmu will confer Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards

1. India Meteorological Department has forecast that dense fog and cold wave conditions will continue to prevail in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the coming days.

2. President Droupadi Murmu interacted with Veer Naaris from Leh participating in Capacity Building Tour organised by the Indian Army.

3. President Droupadi Murmu will confer Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards upon 27 people during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention at Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The 17th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention is scheduled to be held from 8 to 10th January this year.

4. Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya reviewed Air Suvidha system and RT-PCR testing facilities for international passengers at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.

5. Union Ministry of Jal Shakti is organizing a two-day All India Conference of Ministers of States associated with the Water Resources Department from across the country from January 5.

6. The 108th five days Indian Science Conference is starting today at Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj University in Nagpur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this conference in the morning by Video Conferencing.

7. The Supreme Court has upheld the Centre’s 2016 decision to demonetise currency notes of 500 and 1000 rupee denominations. A five-judge Constitution bench dismissed a batch of petitions challenging the Centre’s decision to demonetise 500 and 1000 rupee notes.

8. The second phase of the Sari Festival “VIRAASAT”- Celebrating 75 handwoven Saris of India will begin from 03 Jan to 17th of this month in New Delhi.

9. 50 Electric Buses have been launched in the national capital on 02 Jan, with the support of Central Governments FAME India Phase -2 scheme.

President Murmu will also virtually inaugurate the Transmission System for Solar Energy Zones in Rajasthan and lay the foundation stone for one thousand Mega Watt Bikaner Solar Power Project. She will also grace the launch of a National Campaign on ‘RISE-Rising India through Spiritual Empowerment’, organized by Brahma Kumaris.

11. Eleven coaches of Bandra Terminus- Jodhpur Suryanagari Express train derailed in Rajasthan between Rajkiawas-Bomadra section of Jodhpur division at 3.27 am yesterday. No casualties have been reported in the incident.

Sultanpuri Incident: All five accused sent to three-day police remand; Delhi Police has arrested all five accused in a case related to the death of a woman in the Kanjhawala area in the national capital, when her scooty was reportedly hit by a car and she was dragged under the vehicle for a few kilometers on 01 Jan.

1. Indian Railways has registered an increase of 71 % in total approximate earnings in passenger segment.

2. Railways have earned over one lakh 20 thousand crore rupees from freight loading in the current financial year till last month.

3. The gross Goods and Services Tax, GST revenue collected in December, 2022 is nearly one lakh 50 thousand crore rupees.

1. Centre has proposed a self-regulatory mechanism, mandatory verification of players and physical Indian address for online gaming companies. It has released the draft online gaming rules. The online gaming companies will be covered under the new IT rules 2021 for social media platforms.

2. Actor Shah Rukh Khan will reportedly shoot for an underwater sequence for his upcoming film ‘Dunki’ after the release of his film ‘Pathaan’.

3. Producer Jayantilal Gada has reportedly acquired the Hindi rights of actor Suriya’s upcoming film which is tentatively named ‘Suriya 42’ for ₹100 crore. “This is the biggest buy till date for a Suriya film in Hindi.

4. Allu Arjun-starrer ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ has collected over 10 million rubles at the box office in Russia, the makers announced on Monday.

DEFENCE

1. The 63rd National Defence College (NDC) Course commenced yesterday. The Course is focused on National Security and Strategy, along with strands of Governance, technology, history and economics.

The NDC conducts a course bringing together senior officers from Defence and Civil Services for 47-week duration. The National Defence College was established in 1960.

It is represented by 41 Officers from Indian Army, 13 from Indian Air Force, seven from Indian Navy, 19 from Civil Services, and 40 officers from 30 Friendly Foreign Countries.

2. The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp 2023 has begun at the Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi Cantonment.

3. The first batch of Agniveers for Brigade of The Guards reported at Guards Regimental Center, Kamptee, Nagpur from various recruiting offices, between 25 Dec to 31 Dec 2022. A total of 112 Agniveers have reported for six months of training, before getting attested in the Indian Army.

4. J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said, that the improvised explosive device (IED) blast on Monday morning was a planned attack to target senior officers. At least six people, including two minor siblings, died and 12 others sustained injuries in two terror incidents that took place in Rajouri.
