1. The CBI agency has arrested Shafat Ahmad Shangloo, a resident Srinagar, who is accused of assisting Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Yasin Malik during the 1989 kidnapping of Dr Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of the then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
2. The Union government’s directive requiring every smartphone manufacturer — from Apple to Samsung and Xiaomi — to pre-install the Sanchar Saathi cybersecurity app has ignited a sharp political and industry pushback. While the Centre frames it as a crucial step to fight cyber fraud and recover stolen phones, critics argue it raises constitutional, privacy and competition questions, especially because the app cannot be removed by users.
3. Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia clarified that the Sanchar Saathi is not a surveillance app but enables citizens to secure themselves through transparent and easy-to-use tools.

1. Emo POORSTACEY, known for his genre-blending style and rising influence in alternative music, has died at the age of 26. Authorities responded to an incident at a hotel in Boca Raton on 29 November, where the artist was found and later pronounced dead in hospital. The cause of death has not yet been made public.
2. British playwright and Oscar-winning screenwriter Tom Stoppard has passed away at the age of 88. His talent agency, United Agents, announced that he died peacefully at his home in Dorset, surrounded by family. Stoppard was celebrated for combining sharp intellect with humor in his plays and screenwriting.

1. India is preparing to commission its third indigenously built nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, INS Aridhaman, marking a major expansion of the nation’s sea-based nuclear deterrent. The vessel has entered its final phase of trials, with the Navy confirming that induction will take place soon.
2. Praveen Kumar, the current Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), has now taken additional charge as the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF). He stepped into this role on Sunday after the retirement of former BSF chief Daljit Singh Chawdhary.
3. Defence Research and Development Organisation on Tuesday successfully carried out a high-speed rocket-sled test of a fighter aircraft escape system at the Rail Track Rocket Sled facility of the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory in Chandigarh.
