9th cheetah dies at Kuno; 30% of translocated cats now dead. The female cheetah ‘Dhatri’ was found dead on Wednesday morning. BHOPAL: Tblisi, a female cheetah translocated from Namibia, has died at Kuno National Park. This is the ninth cheetah death at Kuno and includes three of the four cubs born there.

1. Rajya Sabha passes Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2023.

2. Rajya Sabha on Wednesday passed the Forest (Conservation) Amendment Bill, 2023, which exempts land within 100 km of the country’s borders from the purview of conservation laws and permits setting up of zoos, safaris and eco-tourism facilities in forest areas.

10. Over 900 pilgrims left for the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath Ji from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas, Jammu yesterday for the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam in Kashmir. With this, 1,43,984 pilgrims have now departed the Jammu base camp for the Kashmir Valley since June 30.

The 62-day annual pilgrimage commenced on July 1 and is scheduled to conclude on August 31 on Shravan Purnima.

11. HIMACHAL PRADESH : Landslide blocked the national highway connecting Shimla to Chandigarh in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district on Wednesday morning.

12.MADHYA PRADESH : One more cheetah has died at the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, making it the sixth adult feline to have died since March.

13. TAMILNADU : Setting the ball rolling for South India’s first inter-state Metro rail system, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) on August 1 floated a tender to conduct a feasibility study for extending Bengaluru Metro to Hosur in Tamil Nadu.

14. TELANGANA police has rescued as many as 2,617 children, including 263 girls, during Operation Muskaan – IX conducted across the State during the month of July. Out of them, 2,230 children, including 212 girls, were handed over to their parents or guardians while 387 children were admitted to rescue homes.

15. UTTAR PRADESH Cabinet has recently given its approval to the policy of making the state ‘a water tourism and adventure sports destination.’ This policy will be valid for 10 years

16. WEST BENGAL Governor C V Ananda Bose on Wednesday inaugurated an anti-corruption cell’ at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata.

1. List of 20 fake universities in India released by UGC, maximum are from Delhi. Some from UP, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Kerala also have fake universities.

2. A Delhi court on Wednesday ordered the de-sealing of Uphaar cinema hall, where 59 cinemagoers were killed in a massive blaze in 1997.

3. Amid tight security by the Delhi Police, the VHP and Bajrang Dal on Wednesday staged demonstrations in several parts of the national capital against violence in Haryana.

4. Days after communal clashes broke out in Haryana’s Nuh, several shops were set ablaze in Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi because of which Section 144 has been imposed in several parts of the state. While Section 144 has been imposed in 10 areas of Alwar till August 10, Bharatpur district authorities have suspended internet services in four areas until further notice.

5. MANIPUR : Despite Manipur government’s claims, bunkers continue to function in both the Kuki-dominated hills and Meitei-dominated valley.

6. China and Pakistan are working to escalate the violence in Manipur and are sending funds and weapons to keep it burning, as per intelligence reports accessed by News18.

The two countries are allegedly sending in terrorists and funding radicals through Nepal, supplying arms and weapons to fighters, and controlling drug trafficking operations in the region bordering Myanmar.

7. Jaipur-Mumbai train shooting: Railways withdraws statement on mental condition of accused RPF constable.
No mental ailment was detected in the last periodic medical examination of the RPF constable.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) Constable Chetan Singh (33) is accused of gunning down his senior colleague Tika Ram Meena and three passengers aboard the moving train near Palghar railway station on the outskirts of Mumbai in the early hours of Monday.

1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday stated that 28% GST on full face value for online gaming, casinos and horse racing is likely to be implemented from October 1.

2. There is no proposal to increase the amount of minimum pension/family pension (Rs. 9000/month), Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said.

3. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday said that around 88 per cent of the Rs 2,000 notes have been returned to the banks till July 31. The Reserve Bank said in a statement that the information received from the banks shows that till July 31, a total of Rs 3.14 lakh crore worth of Rs 2,000 notes have been withdrawn from circulation.

4. Six public sector banks (PSBs) are currently working without a non-executive chairman, Lok Sabha was informed recently.

At present, the position of non-executive chairman is vacant in Bank of lndia, Bank of Maharashtra, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank and UCO Bank, Shri Bhagwat Karad, Minister of State for Finance said in a written reply.

5. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed late submission fees (LSF) of ₹2,000 crore on ONGC Videsh Ltd (OVL), Indian Oil Corp. Ltd, GAIL (India) Ltd, and Oil India Ltd for delayed reporting of their overseas investments.

1. Art Director Nitin Desai died by suicide at the age of 57. 1. The Indian Army will conduct Agniveer Recruitment Rally from September 1 to 8 for the candidates who have passed the online Common Entrance Exam (CEE) (conducted with effect from 17 to 26 April 2023), at Sardar Patel Stadium, Khammam, Telangana.

2. Appreciating the progress made by India in the field of defence manufacturing, Oman Minister of Royal Office General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani agreed that his country could benefit from this progress.
