1. Today Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated in India to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It is celebrated annually on 2 October.
Gandhi Jayanti 02 Oct also shares birthday with another great Indian figure, Lal Bahadur Shastri who was born in 1904

2. Prez Murmu presents awards to cleanest States and cities in Swachh Survekshan 2022; Madhya Pradesh gets first position among states. The Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 was launched on the 1st of October last year with the aim to make all cities garbage-free by 2026.

3. Haridwar is the cleanest Ganga town in the category with more than one lakh population, followed by Varanasi and Rishikesh. Tirupati of Andhra Pradesh got the award for the Best City in ‘Safai Mitra Suraksh’a. Deolali in Maharashtra was adjudged the country’s ‘cleanest Cantonment Board’. Tripura got the award in the small State category. Karnataka’s Shivamogga won the ‘Fastest Mover City’ Award.

4. PM Modi launched the 5G services at a function at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on 1st October.

5. On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 01 Oct, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has appealed to all citizens to donate blood regularly and always be ready to save the lives of the needy.

6. ANDHRA PRADESH :
Chief Minister Jagan Reddy said on Friday that the government is spending Rs 3,200 crore on Aarogyasri, Aarogya Aasara and the 108 and 104 services in AP.

7. BIHAR ; Poll strategist Prashant Kishor will start his 3,500-km ‘padyatra’ on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on Sunday from Bihar’s West Champaran district.

8. GUJARAT : PM flags off Gandhinagar-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express train; PM launches phase-1 of Ahmedabad Metro rail project at Kalupur station.

9. HARYANA : World’s largest jungle safari park to be developed in Haryana. The World’s largest jungle safari park is spread across an area of 10000 acres in the Aravalli Mountain Range of Gurugram and Nuh District.

10. HIMACHAL PRADESH Chief Electoral Officer Maneesh Garg felicitated a 103-year-old voter at the latter’s residence in Chamba on International Day of Older Persons. Pyar Singh, who’s the district icon for elections, has been casting his vote since 1952. All voters aged above 80 were honoured in the state with a citation signed by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

11. Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur on Saturday inaugurated the art and craft culture centre ‘Dev Lok’ in Kullu district’s Baragran Bihal, which has been constructed in PPP mode at a cost of ₹46 crore.

12. J&K : Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, has been elected the chairman of the newly-formed Democratic Azad Party (DAP), said a party leader on Saturday. A resolution was passed unanimously at a founder members’ session, said the leader. Azad, 73, quit Congress on August 26 this year.

13. KERALA : Senior Comminist Party of India (CPI-M) leader and ex State Minister, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan (69) passes away. He was MLA from Thalassery constituency for 23 long years.

14. Ladakh , Leh District is observing October as Jal Jeevan Maah from the 2nd to the 31st of this month. Jal Jeevan Mission is providing safe and adequate drinking water to individual household tap connections to all in the districts.

15. TELANGANA : State govt hikes ST reservations from 6% to 10% The reservations would be applicable in educational institutions and government jobs in the state.

16. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Friday presented a cheque for Rs 52.48 lakh to the Yadadri Temple Development Authority (YTDA) for the purchase of gold required for gold plating of the gopuram. The money will cover the purchase of one kg and 16 tolas of gold,

CRIME REPORT

1. MAHARASHTRA Police in Nashik has ordered citizens to submit all drones to nearby police stations following two incidents of drones flying near defence establishments.

2. UTTAR PRADESH: Police in Nahtaur has served notices to 60 people seeking ₹57 lakh in damages caused during the anti-CAA protests. Police said the mob allegedly damaged government property and set fire to a police jeep during the December 20, 2019.

3. At least 22 people died and several others were injured as a vehicle carrying pilgrims met with an accident in UP’s Kanpur on Saturday. The tractor trolley with dozens of pilgrims who were returning from Unnao overturned in the Ghatampur area. PM Narendra Modi condoled the deaths and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for families of the deceased.

4. Punjab Police and Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) Police carried out a joint raid in J&K’s Poonch district on Saturday and recovered five kilograms of heroin worth crores of rupees.

1. GST revenue collection in Sep surpasses 1 lakh 47 thousand cr rupees for 7th straight time.

2. RBI hikes repo rate by 50 basis points to 5.9%, fourth hike in a row.

3. State Bank of India’s Economic Research Department’s research report expressed the possibility that, RBI rate hike cycle could be extended till December. State Bank of India’s Chief Economic Advisor Dr. Saumya Kanti Ghosh said, we believe that a 0.35% rate hike in December.

4. Rice procurement has been estimated at 518 lakh metric tonnes for Kharif crop of Kharif Marketing Season 2022-23. Government said all the states are geared up for hassle-free procurement in the days to come.

5. The rules for online payment of debit and credit cards will change from October 1. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made it mandatory to replace all credit and debit card data used in online, point-of-sale and in-app transactions with tokens by September 30 this year.
