9. GUJARAT : Former BJP minister Prabhatsinh Chauhan joined the Congress in Fagvel, Gujarat on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming state Assembly elections. Chauhan was a BJP MP from Panchmahal from 2009-19 and also, a tribal development minister from 2004-07

15. Uttar Pradesh is set to have its fourth Tiger Reserve and 53rd tiger reserve in India. The tiger reserve is spread across over 529.36 sq km.

16. Director General of Police DS Chouhan today unveiled new insignia of Uttar Pradesh Police at its headquarters in Lucknow. From now on, police personnel of all ranks will wear it on their uniform, UP Police said in a statement. The insignia, navy blue and red in colour, will be worn atop the nameplate on the right side of the uniform.

17. TELANGANA : Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday hoisted the national flag at Charminar in Hyderabad. The MP also paid tribute to his father Rajiv Gandhi. The annual event was organised in commemoration of Rajiv Gandhi’s visit to Charminar on October 19, 1990 to launch Sadbhavana Yatra.

CRIME REPORT

1. J&K : The Srinagar Police on Tuesday arrested three hybrid terrorists and seized a 10 kg improvised explosive device (IED) and two hand grenades from them.

2. A threatening letter sent to the office of Registrar General of Uttarakhand High Court has been traced to an inmate of the Bilaspur Central Jail in Chhattisgarh, an official said on Tuesday. In the letter, which was sent a week ago, the accused demanded money.

3. A sex racket, which was being run from a private guest house in Odisha’s Ganjam district, was busted by the police and 12 people were arrested. The arrested persons include customers, agents, who used to lure customers through WhatsApp messages, and the kingpin.

1. RBI launches pilot project of Digital Rupee in wholesale segment. (e₹-W) from 1st November. The use case for this pilot is settlement of secondary market transactions in government securities.

2. The launch of the Digital Rupee is in line with the Finance Minister’s announcement of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in her Budget speech on 1st Feb 2022.The Finance Ministry expects that the CBDC will give a big boost to digital economy and will lead to a more efficient and cheaper currency management system.

3. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in a press release said the Digital Rupee will be used for settlement of secondary market transactions in government securities. It said that use of the E-Rupee is expected to make the inter-bank market more efficient.

4. Senior bureaucrat Vivek Joshi on Tuesday took charge as the Secretary of the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance.

5. US-based private investment company Bain Capital on Tuesday sold 0.54% stake in Axis Bank. According to BSE data, 16.7 million shares were sold at ₹891.38 each, higher than the floor price of ₹888 set by the firm, taking the transaction size to ₹1,486.82 crore.

6. SEBI has issued a cumulative fine of ₹1.05 crore on 21 entities for manipulating the share price of Sunstar Realty Development Limited (SRDL). SEBI has fined each entity ₹5 lakh and given a duration of 45 days to pay the fine.

7. Indian Railways registered freight loading of 855.63 million tonnes (MT) during April-October 2022, marking a 9% increase from the last year’s record of 786.2 MT. Further, the Railways has earned ₹92,345 crore during the period, as compared to ₹78,921 crore earning made in the same period last year. This marks an improvement of 17% in Railways earning.

1. Twitter banned 52,141 accounts in India for promoting child sexual exploitation, non-consensual nudity and allied content between August 26 and September 25.The micro-blogging platform, now owned by Elon Musk, also took down 1,982 accounts for promoting terrorism on its platform.

2. Rishab Shetty’s Kannada film ‘Kantara’ was recently screened for spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at the ashram of Art of Living in Bengaluru.

3. Twitter will no longer allow subscribers of its Blue service to access ad-free articles, The Wall Street Journal reported citing sources. Twitter had described the ad-free feature as a way for publishers to earn more on a per-reader basis than they would from advertising. The report added that Twitter is planning to raise price of Blue to $19.99 from $4.99.

1. Giridhar Aramane, on Tuesday assumed charge as the new defence secretary. Before assuming the office, Aramane laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi and paid homage to the fallen heroes.

2. India has emerged as a leading defence exporter in recent years and could fulfil Africa’s maritime, aerospace and defence requirements, with Mauritius, Mozambique and Seychelles becoming the major buyers of Indian arms during 2017-2021.

3. Four terrorists have been killed in back to back anti-terrorist operations by security forces in south Kashmir.. Police said three terrorists were killed during an encounter in the Awantipora area, and one terrorist was killed in the Bijbehara.

4. Chief Operations Officer of the Royal Bhutan Army, Lt General Batoo Tshering on Tuesday received Guard of Honour at the South Block.
