1. India’s COVID vaccination coverage crosses 106 crore 79 lakh mark Out of the total vaccination, more than 73 crore 43 lakh vaccine doses have been given as first dose, while over 33 crore 36 lakh doses have been administered as second dose.

2. President Ram Nath Kovind has greeted the people of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry on the formation day. In a tweet, he extended best wishes to the residents of these States and Union Territories for their bright future.

3. Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman on 01 Nov chaired review meetings with Ministry of Power, Ministry of Coal and Department of Atomic Energy in New Delhi to give a fillip to capital expenditure (CAPEX) and infrastructure progress in the country.

4. The Centre has launched a mega vaccination campaign- ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ with a view to speed up Covid -19 vaccination drive from 01 Nov.

5. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on 01 Nov launched Bhasha Sangam initiative for schools, Bhasha Sangam Mobile App and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Mobile Quiz. Bhasha Sangam is an initiative of the Ministry of Education under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, to teach basic sentences of everyday usage in 22 Indian languages.

6. Union minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the Haj pilgrimage, which was closed for two years due to the Corona pandemic, will resume from next year. He announced that the online application process for Haj 2022 has begun and the last date of applying for the pilgrimage is 31st January, 2022.

7. Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya on 01 Nov chaired a high- level meeting with Delhi to review the public health measures taken for control and management of Dengue.

8. The Special NIA court in Patna pronounces quantum of punishment for nine (9) convicts in 2013 Patna Gandhi maidan serial blasts case, Four (4) accused awarded capital punishment, two (2) get life imprisonment, two (2) get 10 year imprisonment and one gets seven (7) years imprisonment.

9. Imtiaz Ansar,Hyder Ali alias ‘Black Beauty’, Numan Ansari and Mojibullah Ansari were awared capital punishment. Umar Siddiqui and Azharuddin sentenced life imprisonment while Ahmad Hussain and Firoz Aslam 10 years imprisonment. Iftekhar Alam awarded seven years imprisonment.

10. Six people were killed and over 90 were injured in serial blasts that rocked Bihar’s capital on October 27, 2013. The explosions had taken place at the venue of then Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s “Hunkar” rally.

11. The three-day-long Ganga Utsav began. National Mission for Clean Ganga celebrates Ganga Utsav every year to mark the anniversary of the announcement of River Ganga as the National River on 4th November. This year’s River Festival is celebrating not just River Ganga but all the rivers across the country. The celebrations this year will be part of the ongoing celebrations for 75 years of Independence and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

12. Maharashtra , Mumbai’s famous Veermata Jijabai Bhosle Park and Zoo, a huge attraction for children reopened today. The Mumbai civic body, which maintains the Zoo, has laid down certain conditions for the visitors due to the COVID-19 situation.

13. Anil Deshmukh, the former Home Minister of Maharashtra, has been arrested by ED in a PMLA case against him based on extortion allegations by Param Bir Singh. Previously, the Enforcement Directorate had attached immovable assets worth Rs.4.2 crore allegedly belonging to Deshmukh and his family members under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

14. The petroleum companies have hiked the price of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders by Rs 266 from 01 Nov onwards. Commercial cylinders of the 19 kg in Delhi will cost Rs 2,000.50 which was costing Rs 1,734 earlier.

15.The Punjab government on 01 Nov slashed power tariff by Rs 3 per unit for domestic consumers, a move which comes just months ahead of the Assembly polls and will put a burden of Rs 3,316 crore per year on the exchequer. Channi said for up to 100 units of consumption (up to 2 kW), the power tariff will drop to Rs 1.19 per unit from Rs 4.19 per unit and for 101-300 units, the tariff will be Rs 4.01 and for above 300 units, the power rate will be Rs 5.76 per unit.

16. Criminal lawyer Amar Preet Singh Deol resigned as advocate general of Punjab on Monday. He was appointed on September 27. Earlier soon after Deol’s appointment, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu had resigned from his post, criticising his appointment and also that of director general of police Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota.

17. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi announced 11 per cent increase in employees’ Dearness Allowance for state government employees. DA has been increased from 17 to 28%. This will cost the government Rs 440 crore extra per month.

18. KERALA: Miss Kerala 2019 Ansi Kabeer and first Runner-up Anjana Shajan died in a car accident in Kochi that took place during the wee hours of 31 Oct. Both died on the spot. Two other persons traveling in the car, who were critically injured, have been admitted to a private hospital. The mishap occurred near Vyttila on the Edappally-Aroor bypass in the city.

19. Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on 01 Nov inaugurated the launching ceremony of five vessels built at the Cochin Shipyard.

20.Telangana : All eyes are on Huzurabad as the counting of votes in the Assembly byelection will begin at 8 am on Tuesday. Although there are 30 candidates in the fray in the byelection held on October 30, the main fight is between the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the opposition BJP.

21. Hyderabad student tops NEET: Mrinal Kutteri from Hyderabad, Telangana has been declared as the national topper, along with two others, in the medical entrance exam, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. From Andhra Pradesh, the topper in the state was Chandam Vishnu Vivek, who was declared as securing all-India 5th rank. The exam was held on September 12 with more than 16 lakh students from across the country taking it, and all admissions for undergraduate medical and dental education seats are to be done based on NEET results.

22. WEST BENGAL: Supreme Court on 01 Nov set aside a Calcutta High Court order imposing a complete ban on the sale and use of crackers during Kali Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja in West Bengal. A Vacation Bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Ajay Rastogi quashed the “extreme order” passed by the Calcutta High Court, saying it was in departure from the orders passed by the Supreme Court. The Calcutta High Court should have called upon the parties to explain the issue before passing such an “extreme order”, it noted.
