14. The Delhi Government has recently initiated the ‘Pujari Granthi Samman’ scheme. This programme aims to provide financial assistance to Gurudwara priests in the region. The announcement was made by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on December 30.

1. In Maharashtra, as many as 11 Naxalites, including a dreaded Naxalite leader Tarraka, surrendered before the Gadchiroli police yesterday in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was on a day-long tour of the Naxal-affected district.
2. Eighteen protesters, who were jailed over the street agitation against the Katra ropeway at Reasi’s Mata Vaishno Devi, were released on Wednesday (January 1, 2025), with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha mandating a committee to initiate talks with the stakeholders and resolve all issues.
Locals in Katra have been opposing a ropeway that will connect Tarakote Marg to Sanji Chhat along the 12-kilometre-long steep track of the Vaishno Devi shrine, in Reasi. They claimed the ropeway would impact the livelihoods of over 60,000 families, especially hoteliers, shopkeepers, pony operators, and labourers. In Madhya Pradesh, on the instructions of the Central Government’s Oversight Committee and the order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, action is being taken to destroy the remaining 337 metric tonnes of chemical waste of Union Carbide located in Bhopal. The packing, loading and transportation of Union Carbide waste will be done in special containers.
4. The Mahila Court at Allikulam, which heard the case of murder of college student M. Sathya, pronounced death penalty on the accused D. Sathish on Monday (December 30, 2024). Along with death penalty the court also gave a cash fine and rigorous imprisonment.
According to the police, D. Sathish had killed the 20-year-old woman by pushing her in front of a moving train at St. Thomas Mount railway station on 13 October 2022.

1. The rates of commercial LPG has been cut by 14 rupees 50 paise. Now the 19-kg cylinder will cost one thousand 804 rupees in Delhi, one thousand 756 rupees in Mumbai, one thousand 911 rupees in Kolkata and one thousand 966 rupees in Chennai. The rate of cooking gas used in domestic households, however, remained unchanged at 803 rupees per 14.2-kg cylinder.
2. The total gross Goods and Services Tax, GST collections grew 7.3 per cent to over 1.76 lakh crore rupees last month as compared to December 2023.
3. The Ministry of Coal has recorded significant growth in coal production and dispatch in December 2024. 1. Indian Navy is set to commission three indigenously built warships Nilgiri, Surat and Vaghsheer on the 15th of this month at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
2. Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra assumed command of the Indian Air Force’s Western Air Command. He was Commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot in December 1986. In his 38 years of service, the Air Marshal has tenanted important command and staff appointments. Air Marshal Mishra succeeds Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha, who retired after more than 39 years of service.
3. The Indian Army is hosting the ‘Know Your Army’ Mela 2025 at the Golconda Fort, Hyderabad, from January 3 to 5. Organized under the aegis of Headquarters Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (TASA) and coordinated by the Artillery Centre, Hyderabad, this event serves as a grand prelude to the Army Day Parade 2025.
4. In Nepal, the 18th edition of the India-Nepal military exercise with the aim of security and expansion of bilateral relations has begun at Rupandehi in Lumbini Province. The two-week-long training will be attended by Mr. Jung Battalion of the Nepali Army and the 11th Gorkha Rifle of the Indian Army. The 17th edition of the joint exercise was held in Pithoragarh, India last year.
5. The sale of tickets for Republic Day Parade 2025 and Beating Retreat will commence today. The Defence Ministry said, the tickets can be purchased from the counters opened at Sena Bhawan, Shastri Bhawan, Jantar Mantar, Pragati Maidan and Rajiv Chowk Metro Station on production of Original Photo ID Card.
