14. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will introduce a new FASTag annual pass on August 15, 2025, for frequent highway travellers. This permit, priced at Rs 3,000, provides up to 200 toll-free travels or one year validity at authorised National Highway (NH) and National Motorway (NE) toll plazas. FASTag annual pass is aimed at providing significant savings for regular commuters by replacing multiple toll payments with a single, affordable yearly fee.

The search operations were conducted in connection with illegal profits made by certain entities and persons by indulging in front-running trade activities in scripts traded by Axis Mutual Fund during the period 2018 to 2021.
2. The National Investigation Agency has attached two immovable properties of accused Mohammad Yunus in the 2015 Bharuch double murder case. According to the NIA, Mohammad Yunus was arrested for his role in the criminal conspiracy and murder of BJP workers, Shirish Bengali and Pragnesh Mistry, in 2015.

DEFENCE News

1. As part of the Indian Navy’s ongoing operational deployment to South East Asia, Indian Naval Ships INS Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan, of the Eastern Fleet, commanded by RAdm Susheel Menon, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF) , arrived at Manila, Philippines.
The ships were accorded a warm welcome by personnel of the Philippine Navy, underscoring the strong and growing maritime ties between India and Philippines.
2. Lieutenant General V. Sreehari assumed charge as the General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area, Indian Army, from 01 August 2025. The formation covers Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and the Union Territories of Puducherry and Lakshadweep.
3. The Indian Navy on Thursday received the advanced guided-missile frigate Himgiri built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata.

India took another significant step in enhancing its coastal defense and maritime surveillance capabilities with the launch of the Indian Coast Guard’s latest Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV), ‘Atal’, in Goa. The vessel, launched by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) at Vasco da Gama, marks the sixth addition in a series of eight state-of-the-art FPVs designed and built indigenously, underlining the nation’s commitment to ‘Atmanirbharta’ in defense manufacturing.
5. The Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau has introduced the P-18 next-generation destroyer concept, a significantly larger and more capable vessel than the Visakhapatnam-class destroyers. Displacing 13,000 tonnes, it features 144 vertical launch systems for diverse missiles, advanced radar systems for multi-domain operations, and a focus on indigenous content, enhancing India’s naval power.
6. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has begun construction of its first indigenously built Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV), marking a major step towards boosting India’s maritime response capabilities. The Girder Laying and Commencement of Erection ceremony took place on Wednesday (30 July) at Chowgule and Company Pvt. Ltd. in Goa.
7. The Southern Naval Command, India’s premier naval training command, witnessed a significant leadership transition as Commodore Varghese Mathew officially took charge as the Naval Officer-in-Charge (Kerala).
