1. PAN and Aadhaar number are now mandatory for making investments in small saving schemes like Public Provident Fund (PPF), Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), Post Office Saving Scheme, and Senior Citizen Savings Scheme, the Ministry of Finance has announced.
2. The government collected a gross GST revenue of ₹1.60 lakh crore in March 2023, registering a 13% year-on-year growth, government data showed. This is the second-highest amount collected ever in a month after April 2022. Monthly GST revenue crossed ₹1.4 lakh crore for the 12th consecutive month. The total gross GST revenue for 2022-23 stood at ₹18.10 lakh crore.
3. India’s foreign exchange reserves have continued to increase for the second consecutive week, reaching USD 578.778 billion in the week ending March 24. This indicates a rise of USD 5.978 billion.
4. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that 2 lakh crores procurement by the Government within a single financial year 2022-2023 through the Government e-Marketplace .

DEFENCE
1. Ministry of Defence recently signed a contract with ISRO’s commercial arm New Space India Ltd (NSIL) for the procurement of an advanced communication satellite, GSAT-7B.
GSAT 7 series satellites are advanced communication satellites developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to meet the communication needs of the defence services.
(a) The GSAT 7B will primarily fulfil the communication needs of the Indian Army.
(b) It provides communication services to the Indian Air Force.
It also helps in satellite-controlled operations of UAVs.

It is India’s first military satellite launched in August 2013 from an Ariane 5 ECA rocket from Kourou in French Guiana.
It is an advanced communication satellite developed by ISRO and primarily provides communication services to the Indian Navy.
2. India’s defence exports reached an all-time high of Rs 15,920 crore in the financial year 2022-2023, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday describing the rise as a remarkable achievement.
The country’s defence exports in 2021-22 was Rs 12,814 crore.
3. PM Modi addressed at the Combined Commanders’ Conference in Bhopal. PM Modi Modi on Saturday assessed the operational readiness of the Indian Armed forces in the backdrop of the lingering border row with China. The three-day conference commenced on March 30 with the theme RRR : ‘Ready, Resurgent, Relevant’.

The Indian Armed Forces are working on formulating a “National Military Strategy” for laying down long-term national and geopolitical objectives, The chiefs of all three forces along with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, will discuss this strategy on the sidelines of the Combined Commanders Conference (CCC).
5. The Indian Navy would deploy its recently-approved BrahMos supersonic cruise missile-equipped mobile coastal batteries at strategic locations across the maritime zone to neutralise threats from China & Pakistan.
