A 27-year-old mechanical named Ravindra Verma, residing in Kalwa, Thane, has been arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on charges of espionage for allegedly leaking sensitive information about Indian naval warships and submarines to a Pakistani intelligence operative.Verma, who worked as a junior engineer with a private defence technology firm.
2. The Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea moved by RJD Chief and former railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav seeking to stay the trial court proceedings in the land for jobs scam case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI. The case centres on accusations that Mr Yadav granted railway jobs in exchange for land parcels, which were transferred to his family or associates during his tenure from 2004 to 2009.
3. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) introduced new guidelines to regulate the sale of radio equipment, particularly walkie-talkies, on e-commerce platforms. This initiative aims to enhance consumer safety and ensure compliance with legal requirements regarding wireless communication devices.

1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said India is sustaining its GDP growth momentum as the fastest-growing economy for the fourth year in a row, aided by manufacturing, services and farm sectors.
She said India’s manufacturing activity has been “good” during the January-March period, which has helped clock a GDP growth of 7.4 per cent during the quarter and 6.5 per cent for the full 2024-25 fiscal.
2. India has achieved a significant milestone in global electronics manufacturing by surpassing China as the largest exporter of iPhones to the United States, according to a report by market research firm Omdia. In April 2025, nearly three million iPhones manufactured in India were shipped to the US, marking a 76% year-on-year increase.

1. MISS WORLD 2025 : Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri was crowned Miss World 2025 after the grand finale in Hyderabad on Saturday, May 31. She was crowned by Miss World 2024 Krystyna Pyszkova at the finale ceremony held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre.
India’s Miss World contestant Nandini Gupta was eliminated before she could reach top 8 at the 72nd Miss World contest on Saturday, being held in Hyderabad.
If Gupta had won the pageant, she would have been the seventh one from India to take the crown. Manushi Chillar was the last to win in 2017.
The first Miss World from India was Reita Faria, who won the crown in 1966. Incidentally, she was also the first Asian Miss world. Aishwarya Rai won the crown in 1994, Diana Hayden in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999, and Priyanka Chopra in 2000.
2. Telugu actor Akhil Akkineni, son of Nagarjuna and Amala, is set to marry artist and perfumer Zainab Ravdjee on June 6, 2025. The Akkineni family personally invited Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to the wedding, highlighting its prominence. Zainab, known for her abstract paintings and fragrance blog, hails from a prominent business family.

1. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, provided a comprehensive assessment of India’s current standing relative to Pakistan and highlighted the broader strategic context of India’s foreign and defence policy.

Following recent remarks by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan regarding India’s military confrontation with Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, has accused the Modi government of misleading the nation and demanded a comprehensive review of India’s defence preparedness by an independent expert committee.
3. India’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities reached a pivotal milestone on May 30, 2025, when VEM Technologies, a Hyderabad-based private company, delivered the first centre fuselage assembly for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) TEJAS MK-1A to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
This historic handover represents the first time a major sub-assembly for the TEJAS fighter has been manufactured by a private Indian company, marking a transformative shift in India’s aerospace sector and significantly advancing the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan recently conducted a series of high-level bilateral meetings with defence leaders from the Netherlands, the United States, and Brazil during the Shangri-La Dialogue 2025 in Singapore, marking a significant step in India’s ongoing efforts to deepen international defence cooperation.
