DEFENCE News

1. The Ministry of Defence signed two contracts, worth around 2,867 crore rupees, for the construction of the Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) Plug for the DRDO-AIP system and its integration onboard Indian submarines, and the integration of the Electronic Heavy Weight Torpedo (EHWT) onboard the Kalvari-class submarines. Both contracts were signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi.

2. In Indian Armed Forces, the personal staff officers, known as Aides-de-Camp (ADCs), to the Chiefs of the Army, Navy and the Air Force will now be appointed from services other than their own. This change, effective from January 1, has been voluntary accepted by the three service chiefs, symbolising a commitment to inter-service integration.

The role of an ADC is pivotal, encompassing the management of the chief’s daily affairs, attendance at official events and meetings, scheduling, correspondence and various administrative tasks.

3. IPS officer Vitul Kumar will take over as the Director General of the CRPF upon the retirement of the incumbent chief Anish Dayal Singh on 31 December 2024.
