1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu said, amid global instability, India is setting an example to the world by emerging as a pillar of economic, social and political stability. The President addressed the joint sitting of both houses of Parliament at the beginning of the Budget session.

2. The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will discuss the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address on Monday. 16 Bills including the Finance Bill 2025, the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024 will be taken up for discussion and passage. The first part of the Budget session will be held till 13th February while the second leg of the session will be held from 10th March to 4th April.

3. The Ministry of Electronics and IT said that Aadhaar Authentication has been expanded to government and private entities for providing various services in the public interest, boosting innovation, knowledge, and public service enhancement.

In a social media post, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said that ahead of World Wetlands Day, the government announced that Sakkarakottai Bird Sanctuary and Therthangal Bird Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, Khecheopalri Wetland in Sikkim, and Udhwa Lake in Jharkhand have been included in the list of Ramsar sites in the country.

1 India’s real GDP is estimated to grow by 6.4 per cent in the financial year 2025-26 and the growth is likely to range between 6.3 and 6.8 per cent in the next financial year. This was projected in the Economic Survey presented by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in both the Houses of Parliament.

2. Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Dr. V. Ananth Nageswaran has said that agriculture is the sector of the future, as there is enough scope to raise the contribution of agriculture by 0.75 per cent to one per cent in terms of GDP growth.

6. India’s core industries experienced a growth of 4% in December 2024, a slight decline from the 4.4% growth recorded in November. This data, released by the Commerce Ministry on January 31, indicates that while the core sector continues to expand for the fourth consecutive month.

1. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is set to make history as the first Indian astronaut to travel to the International Space Station (ISS). He has been selected as the pilot for Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4), a private astronaut mission launching aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft no earlier than spring 2025.

Shukla, a Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot, will join a crew led by former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, who will serve as mission commander.

2. In a first, a female CRPF officer is set to get married at the country’s most prestigious venue, the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The female CRPF assistant commandant, posted as a PSO at the Bhavan, will marry an assistant commandant posted in Jammu and Kashmir. The wedding is set to take place on February 12 with a limited number of guests.

3. The Director General (DG) level border talks between India and Bangladesh are scheduled to take place from February 17 to 20, 2025, in New Delhi.

4. Senior officers from the Indian Armed Forces have embarked on the INS Vikrant to observe the Joint Phase of TROPEX 25 (Theatre Level Operational Readiness Exercise).
