1. Election Results 2024 : The BJP-led NDA won 292 seats and prevailed over the Opposition alliance – I.N.D.I.A, bagged 234 seats and 17 others.

The BJP’s Uttar Pradesh dominance, however, faced a tough challenge from the I.N.D.I.A bloc. The contest between the BJP and INDIA bloc in the Lok Sabha polls is a reflection of a broader ideological battle.

2. President Smt Droupadi Murmu will dissolve 17th Lok Sabha today, once the cabinet recommendation is received. Cabinet Meeting is Scheduled today. The President will then start the process of constituting the 18th Lok Sabha once the Election Commission submits the list of MPs to her. The President will then call the single-largest party to form the government at the Centre.

3. Prominent winners include, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Senior BJP leaders Amit Shah, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nitin Gadkari, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajvadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.

4. BJP leaders Smriti Irani, Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Arjun Munda, National Conference leader Omar Abdulla and PDP leader Mehbuba Mufti among those suffered defeat.

(b) BJP candidate Maneka Gandhi lost the Sultanpur seat to the Samajwadi Party’s Rambhual Nishad by a margin of 43,174 votes.

(c) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi scripted a huge victory in Wayanad, Kerala and Raebareli. He contested from two Lok Sabha seats of Wayanad, Kerala and Raebareli.

5. Winning a Lok Sabha seat for the first time in Kerala, BJP’s Suresh Gopi wins Thrissur Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 74,686 votes.

6. Telugu Desham Party emerges victorious in Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections.
The YSR Congress party, led by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, contested for all 175 seats, while the Telugu Desam Party, led by N Chandrababu Naidu, fielded candidates in 144 seats. Its alliance partners—Jana Sena, led by actor Pawan Kalyan—contested in 21 seats and the BJP in 10 seats.

(d) The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) on Sunday returned to power by sweeping the assembly polls in the Himalayan state, winning 31 of the 32 seats, according to the Election Commission. The opposition Sikkim Democratic Front could manage only one seat.

8. The BJP suffered a setback in the race for the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu. Contrary to exit polls predicting a breakthrough for the BJP with three to five seats in the state, the DMK-led INDIA alliance scored a clean sweep in all 39 seats. The alliance won Puducherry too.

9. MEGHALAYA-BASED THINK TANK ORGANISES ROUND TABLE ON ‘CONNECTING THE DOTS: The Asian Confluence, a premier think-tank of the Northeast, organised a round table conference on “Connecting the Dots: Indo-Pacific and the Northeast” in Guwahati with the aim of exploring ways to enhance economic, trade, physical, digital, and cultural connections between the Northeast and the broader Indo-Pacific.

10. In Assam, the flood situation continues to remain grim as more than 6 lakh people are reeling under the deluge across 10 districts. State Government has opened 191 Relief camps and 108 relief distribution centres.

11. The Department of School Education signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Book Trust to create an institutional framework for the Digital Library Platform, Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya.

12. Former Union Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Yashwant Sinha reacted to the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and said that Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar should immediately switch from the NDA to the INDI Alliance.

13. BJP has lost its seat in Uttar Pradesh’s Faizabad – the constituency in which the Ram Mandir has been built. BJP candidate Lallu Singh, the sitting MP, has conceded the race to Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad.

14. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA secured a total of 353 seats, whereas the UPA won 93.

15. PM Modi on Tuesday said the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections was an emotional one for him because it was his first election after his mother’s death.

1. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has clinched a significant 30-year concession agreement with the Tanzania Ports Authority to operate Container Terminal 2 (CT2) at Dar es Salaam Port. This marks APSEZ’s third venture into international ports, signalling its strategic expansion beyond Indian shores.

The Reserve Bank has informed that the total value of 2000 rupee banknotes in circulation has declined to 7,755 crore rupees at the close of business on 19th May, 2024, exactly a year after the RBI had announced withdrawal of the said currency notes. In a statement RBI said that out of 3.56 lakh crore worth of currency notes that were in circulation in May 2023, 97.82 percent have returned to the system.

1. A Passing Out Parade was held at the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre, Leh on 04 June, 2024 to welcome 402 well trained Agniveer recruits into the Ladakh Scouts Regiment. 2. The Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Sukhoi fighter jet crashed on Tuesday in Maharashtra’s Nashik district, the police stated. Ahead of the crash, both the pilot and co-pilot of the Sukhoi Su-30MKI aircraft successfully ejected from the plane. However, they sustained minor injuries, following which, they were taken to the HAL hospital. The plane crashed in a field near Shirasgaon village.

3. Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, including a self-styled commander of the outfit, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.

4. First Cadet Training Ship (Yard-18003)-Vessel 1 under construction Keel laying ceremony of the second Cadet Training Ship (Yard – 18004) was held at L&T Shipyard, Kattupalli on 03 Jun 24. The ceremony was presided over by Rear Adm Sandeep Mehta, Assistant Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition (ACWP&A).

5. A military training plane crashed in central Turkey, killing two pilots aboard. The plane took off from a military base in Kayseri on a training flight and later crashed for unknown reasons.

6. A team from the United States is currently in India engaging in discussions regarding the acquisition of MQ-9B drones by the Indian armed forces. If finalized, the deal is estimated to be worth $3.9 billion, with 31 drones being acquired, 15 of which will have a maritime role.
