1. BJP leader Mohan Charan Majhi to be the new Chief Minister of Odisha; Oath-taking ceremony to be held in Bhubaneswar today. Mohan Charan Majhi is a four-time MLA from Keonjhar. The party also decided to have two Deputy Chief ministers, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida. This is the first time the BJP will have its government in Odisha after defeating the incumbent Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal in the just concluded Assembly polls.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first act was to approve the 17th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) plan. By giving out about Rs 20,000 crore, this new payment is expected to help about 9.3 crore farmers.

3. The PM-KISAN scheme, which started in February 2019 and went into force in December 2018, is meant to help all eligible farmers’ families across India by giving them money. Each qualified farmer gets ₹6,000 a year from the program. This money is given to people in need in three equal payments of ₹2,000 every four months. It is sent straight to their bank accounts.

4. The oath taking ceremony of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu is today. 12 June (Wednesday) in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. Several dignitaries including Union Home Minister Amit Shah will take part in the ceremony.

5. Andhra Pradesh assembly elections 2024, the Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP won a whopping 135 seats whereas the Jana Sena won 21 seats. The BJP, on the other hand, won 8 seats. Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress got 11 seats.

6. The BJP Parliamentary Board has appointed party leader and MP Ravi Shankar Prasad and party National general secretary Tarun Chugh as central observers for the election of the leader of BJP Legislature Party in Arunachal Pradesh.

The swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister and Council of Ministers is likely to be held on Thursday. BJP has retained power in Arunachal Pradesh by securing 46 seats in the 60-member House in the just concluded Assembly polls.

7. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to allow higher educational institutions to admit students twice a year, starting from the next academic year. Admissions will now be open in January and February and July and August. Currently, UGC Regulations allow admissions in one academic session in a year.

8. Several parts of the national capital, Delhi witnessed massive power cut after a power grid located in Mandola of Uttar Pradesh caught fire. The Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) supplies 1,500 Mega Watt of electricity to the city.

9. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alert for severe heat wave conditions over parts of East and Northwest India including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi for the next three to four days.

10. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the third edition of Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman. The Ministry said, thirty-three awards will be given this year under the Print, Television, and Radio categories in twenty-two Indian languages and English.

11. Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) supremo Prem Singh Tamang on June 10 took oath as the Chief Minister of the Himalayan state for the second consecutive term.

12. A total of Rs 1,253.06 crore was paid as compensation to the residents affected by the various construction works for developing Ayodhya Dham, the district administration said on Tuesday.

A total of 401 shopkeepers were completely relocated in the beautification/widening of the said roads, out of which 339 shopkeepers have been allotted shops by the authority.

1. Union Minister Rajnath Singh retained his position as Defence Minister. He will continue as India’s Defence Minister, focusing on self-reliance in defence and boosting women’s roles in the armed forces.

4. Indian private defence and space company Paras Defence and Space Technologies Limited (Paras Defence) has begun deliveries of critical flight systems for the SARAS MK-2 program, an important milestone in India’s quest to build an indigenous civilian/military passenger aircraft.

5. The ‘Missile Cum Ammunition Barge, LSAM 13, Yard 81, the fifth Barge of the Missile Cum Ammunition Barge project, built by MSME Shipyard, SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd (SEPPL), Visakhapatnam for Indian Navy, was undertaken on 10 June.

Indian Navy’s indigenous stealth frigate, INS Shivalik, arrived at Yokosuka, Japan, on Tuesday to participate in the eighth edition of the Japan-India Maritime Exercise 2024 (JIMEX 24).The exercise, which has been held since 2012, aims to enhance cooperation and interoperability between the navies of India and Japan.

In Ladakh, as part of the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations, the Kargil Army Brigade extended a warm welcome to the 101 Regular Force, a group of bikers who played a crucial role in the 1999 Kargil War (Operation Vijay). The event, organized in collaboration with the local Army unit, took place at Army Goodwill School Harka Bahadur

8. A day after the killing of nine persons in the terrorist attack on a pilgrims bus in Reasi district of Jammu, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir), VK Birdi on Monday ordered launching of anti-terrorist operations in all 10 districts of the Valley.
