1. Shri Narendra Modi was yesterday sworn in as Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term. President Droupadi Murmu administered the Oath of Office and Secrecy to PM Modi along with the members of the new Council of Ministers at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhawan. During the Swearing-in Ceremony, 31 Cabinet Ministers, five Ministers of State( Independent Charge) and thirty-six Ministers of State took oath.
2. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge was the lone opposition leader from the INDIA bloc who on Sunday attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his new cabinet, citing “constitutional duty” as the reason.
3. K Ram Mohan Naidu, Lok Sabha Member from Srikakulam Parliament seat, Andhra pradesh took oath as a Cabinet Minister. He is a three-time MP and becomes the youngest ever Cabinet Minister at the age of 36.
4. Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, Lok Sabha Member from Guntur Parliament seat, Andhra Pradesh took oath as a Minister of State. He is a first-time MP with declared assets of ₹5785 crores. He is a successful NRI doctor.
5. Although three-time former MP Ravneet Singh Bittu tasted defeat in Lok Sabha elections, he said been inducted into the Union council of ministers. He is the second Ludhiana MP after Congress’ Manish Tewari to hold the position of a Union minister.
6. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will complete his three-year term as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and the search is on for a new leader to take up the mantle.
7. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed two senior leaders including Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Bhupender Yadav as its central observers tasked with overseeing the appointment of the Chief Minister of Odisha.
8. BJP leaders Gangapuram Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar were sworn-in as Union Cabinet in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government. This is the first time that Telangana is getting two Union ministers.
9. Nearly one lakh people are likely to attend the oath-taking programme of Nara Chandrababu Naidu as the new chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and the public meeting at Kesarapalli near Gannavaram on 12 June.
10. Five representatives from Karnataka, including former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, Rajya Sabha member Nirmala Sitharaman and senior BJP leader Pralhad Joshi, took oath as ministers in the Modi-led NDA government on Sunday. Bangalore North Lok Sabha member Shobha Karandlaje and Tumkur Lok Sabha member V Somanna took oath as ministers of state.
11. Six MPs from Bihar have made it to the NDA government as PM Narendra Modi took oath for the third straight term on Sunday. Of these six MPs, four are from NDA partners JD(U), LJP and HAM (S), while two are from BJP – Giriraj Singh and Nityananda Rai, both of whom held Cabinet berths in the previous Modi government.
12. Indian wildlife scientist and environmentalist named Asir Jawahar Thomas Johnsingh died in Bengaluru on 7 June 2024. He was 78 years old. His death is a big loss for India’s efforts to protect wildlifewildlife.
