1. Sri Ram Navami is observed today. It is a Hindu festival which will be celebrated by people across the country to commemorate the birth of Lord Ram to King Dasaratha and Queen Kausalya of Ayodhya in the Treta Yuga. The seventh Avatar of Lord Vishnu is Lord Ram, the incarnation that Lord Vishnu took on Earth to end the riotous reign of King Ravana.

2. President Smt Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings to the people on the eve of Ram Navami.

3. Centre approves 1,280 crore rupees to Bihar, Himachal, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as disaster assistance.

4. The Minority Affairs Ministry busted myths relating to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, saying that no property will be revoked that is registered as waqf prior to the commencement of the Waqf Act, 1995, and under the Waqf Act, 1995. It said that once a property is declared waqf, it is meant to stay that way permanently. The bill only clarifies rules for better management and transparency.

5. Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterates, the country will be free from Naxalism by the end of March next year; 86 Maoists surrender in Telangana.

6. The Delhi Government signs MoU with Centre to implement Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana; Distribution of cards to begin on 10th of this month.

7. The Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced the establishment of a helpline desk within the ministry to assist startups, particularly in addressing issues related to bureaucracy. Addressing the Startup Maharathi Challenge at Startup Mahakumbh in New Delhi, he said that startup founders will have the opportunity to register their complaints.

8. The Warangal Chapata chilli, popularly known as Tomato chilli, has received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag from the GI Registry of India.

9. Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir today to review the security situation of the region and interact with security personnel.

10. Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) is advancing its energy capabilities with the establishment of the first supercritical thermal power project (SCTPP) in Korba district. This project is part of an expansion of the existing Hasdeo Thermal Power Station.

11. PM Modi will visit Tamil Nadu today, where he will inaugurate the New Pamban Rail Bridge connecting Rameswaram to the mainland on the occasion of Ram Navami. The bridge is India’s first vertical lift sea bridge. The prime minister will also flag off a train and a ship from the road bridge and witness the operation of the bridge.

12. Bharatiya Janata Party will be celebrating its foundation day today. On this occasion, BJP President and Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will hoist the party flag at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.

13. The India Meteorological Department has forecast a heatwave to severe heat over Gujarat and Rajasthan from till Wednesday and a heatwave over Madhya Pradesh from 7th to 9th April. The Met department has also predicted a heatwave over South Punjab, Haryana and adjoining west Uttar Pradesh on 7th and 8th April.

14. President Smt Droupadi Murmu on Saturday gave her assent to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which was passed by Parliament earlier this week after heated debates in both Houses.

15. Seema Agrawal, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has been appointed as the new DGP/ Director of Fire and Rescue Services. She takes this position after the retirement of former DGP Abhash Kumar on March 31.

1. Recently, the Supreme Court of India made ruling regarding the demolition of residential properties in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The court condemned the actions of local authorities as “inhuman and illegal.” It ordered the Prayagraj Development Authority to compensate affected residents, denoting the need for adherence to due process in such situations. This case has drawn attention to the balance between urban development and individual rights.

2. Telangana government has unveiled plans to transform approximately 2,000 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli into what is being touted as one of the world’s largest eco parks. This expansive project encompasses land currently occupied by the University of Hyderabad (UoH), proposing the relocation of the university to a newly envisioned “Future City” on Hyderabad’s outskirts.

The government’s decision follows the cancellation of an earlier plan to auction 400 acres in the same area, a move prompted by mounting pressure from student groups, environmental activists, and intervention from the Supreme Court.

3. The Waqf Amendment Bill 2025, introduced in the Lok Sabha, aims to amend the existing Waqf Act of 1995. The most contentious change involves the removal of Section 40. This has sparked debate between the ruling coalition and opposition parties.

Section 40 of the Waqf Act grants the Waqf Board the authority to determine whether a property is a Waqf property. This section empowers the Board to collect information and conduct inquiries regarding properties it suspects to be Waqf.

4. The Supreme Court temporarily stayed the Punjab and Haryana High Court order that had previously ordered the demolition of unauthorised constructions in housing units and the sealing of commercial activities in Gurugram’s DLF Phases 1 to 5.

5. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Saturday shared RTI documents suggesting that the AAP National Convenor, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal spent Rs 29.56 crore between 31 March 2015, and 27 December 2022 on maintenance of his official bungalow in north Delhi.

1. The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has marked achievement by facilitating the hiring of over 1 million manpower resources in the fiscal year 2024-25. This digital procurement platform, launched by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

2. Tamil Nadu has achieved the highest real economic growth rate in India for the year 2024-25. The state grew at a rate of 9.69%, which is the best in the country and also the highest for Tamil Nadu in the past 10 years.

1. LAAPTAA LADIES movie writer Biplab Goswami denies plagiarism claims: A few days after the internet found similarities between Arabic film Burqa City and Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, Biplab issued a statement on social media claiming that he had registered Laapataa Ladies with the Screenwriters Association in 2014, well before the Arabic film was made.

He also stated that the contended scenes were written in the registered synopsis. In 2018, he claimed to have registered the feature-length script, which he called Two Brides, with the SWA. It even won an award at the Cinestaan Storytellers Competition that same year, he says in the statement.

2. Haryana to Develop Film City in Two Phases at Pinjore and Gurugram. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said while addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day film festival held at Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak.

3. Vicky Kaushal stuns fans with a mystical new avatar in Ek Jaadugar, directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by Rising Sun Films.

4. BookMyShow, an online ticketing platform, on Saturday reportedly removed all content related to the stand-up comedian. It also removed Kunal Kamra from the list of artistes listed on its website.

1. Recently the Indian Army’s Air Defence Corps showcased its operational readiness during a live missile-firing exercise at Gopalpur Seawards Firing Ranges on 30 March 2025. The exercise involved the 9K33 Osa-AK missile system, which achieved direct hits on all targets.

2. The Indian Navy Offshore Patrol Vessel (NOPV) INS Sunayna will set sail from Karwar as Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) SAGAR (Security & Growth for All in the Region). The ship is carrying 44 naval personnel from nine Friendly Foreign Nations (FFNs) and this is flagged off by the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh from Karwar.

This mission will mark a significant step in reinforcing India’s commitment to regional maritime security and international cooperation. INS Sunayna during its deployment will visit Dar-es-Salaam, Nacala, Port Louis and Port Victoria.

3. Recently Defence Minister Rajnath Singh flagged off joint expeditions by the Indian and Nepal Armies to Mount Everest and Mount Kanchenjunga in New Delhi. Major General Dhruba Prakash Shah, DGMT, Nepali Army, also participated in the flag-off ceremony.

The joint Indo-Nepal expedition, which aims to scale Mount Kanchenjunga, will feature 12 mountaineers from the Indian Army and six from the Nepali Army. It will be led by Colonel Sarfaraz Singh of the Indian Army.
