Former Prime Minister Dr. Shri Manmohan Singh’s last rites will be performed today (Saturday) . His final journey will commence from Congress headquarters in New Delhi to the cremation ground at Nigambodh Ghat at 9.30 AM. Dr. Manmohan Singh will be accorded State Funeral at 11:45 AM.
State mourning has been declared for seven days till 1st January. During this mourning period, the National Flag is being flown half-mast throughout the country. The National Flag is also being flown at half-mast in all the Indian Missions and High Commissions abroad.
The Change of Guard Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan will not take place today due to National Mourning. The Change of Guard ceremony is a time-honoured military tradition with roots in military antiquity, involving the periodic replacement of guards and sentries at palaces, forts, and defence establishments.
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders across party line paid their last respects to the late former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at his residence in New Delhi.

1. The Monthly Per Capita Expenditure (MPCE) has increased by nine percent in rural areas and around eight percent in urban areas in 2023-24 from the level of 2022-23. According to the Household Consumption Expenditure Survey 2023-24 released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, the average MPCE in rural India has been estimated to be 4 thousand 122 rupees. The average MPCE in urban India has been estimated to be six thousand 996 rupees.

RBI new rules for UPI payment : Now wallet holders will no longer have to depend upon the PPI wallet issuer in order to make UPI payments, rather individuals can use third party apps in order to transact through wallet using a UPI. 1. Indian Coast Guard rescued nine Indian crew members from a sunken vessel, MSV Taj Dhare Haram on Thursday. The vessel was located nearly 311 kilometers west of Porbandar, Gujarat, in Pakistan’s Search and Rescue Region.
2. The Pakistan Army has accused India of committing 25 violations of the Line of Control (LoC) throughout 2024. This claim was made by Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry during a year-end press conference held on 27 December 2024.
3. The Indian Navy has significantly ramped up its operations in the Western Arabian Sea, deploying over 30 ships and responding to more than 25 incidents recently, as reported by the Defence Ministry. This deployment is part of a broader strategy to enhance maritime security in response to increasing threats, including piracy and drone attacks on merchant vessels.
4. The 18th edition of the India-Nepal joint military exercise, Surya Kiran, is set to take place from December 29, 2024, to January 13, 2025, at Saljhandi, Nepal. This annual exercise aims to enhance interoperability between the Indian and Nepali armies, focusing on jungle warfare, counter-terrorism operations in mountainous terrains, and Humanitarian Assistance.
5. Morocco is set to become a pivotal player in the Indian defence manufacturing landscape following a landmark agreement between Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces. This partnership marks the establishment of Morocco’s first large-scale defence manufacturing facility, located in Casablanca, which will focus on producing the Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP) 8×8 combat vehicles.
